I’ve done my research and my son is healing but it’s a very slow process. Unfortunately he went through cold turkey because our family doctor refused to taper and at the time I had no clue what I was dealing with regarding the horrible side effects of these drugs. I don’t believe there’s permanent brain damage but it has definitely incapacitated him at the present time.

HAS HE HAD ANY SEIZURES , UNCONTROLLED BODY MOVEMENTS , OR DYSFUNCTIONS IN WALKING OR TALKING ?

Two decades ago, I took xanax for a few months when I was struggling with panic attack. After I prevailed against the panic attack, I stop taking xanax altogether. No addiction, no withdrawal. So, I don't understand how come many are addicted to it and stopping it causes such a hellish withdrawal.

I remember, while I was dependent on xanax, I was very determined to ditch it in the future cause I thought at that time I didn't want to depend on it my whole life. So when I managed to stop my panic attack without xanax, I ditched it once and for all and never look back.

Once you understand the mechanism of panic attack that you cause it yourself, you're enlightened and can face it without fear. When you face the panic attack without fear, it just went away almost instantly. It's mostly mental, and now that I know, in my case, has something to do with dehydration also. As the panic attack stopped and never come again, I felt no need to keep xanax all the time. In the end I threw it away, all the pills. So, never experience any addiction or withdrawal.

No...he’s been off any type of Benzos for 15 months ... he primarily suffers from depression, isolation and OCD symptoms. Medical marijuana has been helpful but there really isn’t a simple cure. Early on in his recovery he dealt with debilitating OCD, brain zaps, paranoia, anxiety and insomnia with caused a whole host of other issues.

There's a neurologist out in Cali who has been warning about this benzo withdrawal thing.

Once you start, it takes more and more to manage your mental state and you can't get off it or it literally kills you.

No way in hell would I keep taking some pills my whole life. The best I can, I don't want to depend on anything like pills or any other crutches. That's probably part of my free spirit nature, don't want to be confined or conformed to anything.

Thanks for the kind words! He was prescribed Ativan but then was placed on Klonopin for about (1) year during his freshman/sophomore year of college. His dosages fluctuated before he became frustrated and decided to stop taking the medication. By that time my wife and I where trying desperately to get a grip on what was going on with him. The situation spiraled out of control and we found ourselves in the local ER because he became suicidal. After spending 3-weeks in a medical detox facility near Philadelphia he returned home. Again, no one explained to my wife or I the severity of Post Acute Withdrawal Symptoms caused by cold turkey of Benzos. My son was always a good kid, easy going and highly intelligent. I witnessed uncontrollable rage to where we had to call the police to help calm him down. I was not impressed with any of the medical or drug rehab facilities during this ordeal. They where either uneducated in dealing with Benzo withdrawal or simply overwhelmed.

Also - benzos cause dementia. So, there's that to look forward to when millions of Americans are stricken with that later on.

Drugs can be beneficial sometimes taken properly but some can be quite dangerous, such has it always been and will be. In the case of Jordan Peterson, which is the subject component of this thread, only he and those close to him know how and why his addiction manifested.
