And I've seen the upcoming food crisis thing here every year since. Floods here in the midwest last year that were supposed to make beef and corn practically extinct according to all the threads posted here. Few years ago it was the army corp flooding the levees along the mississippi. Quoting: MrBlack I have to agree. Along with that, we are buying food at the grocer that has been warehoused for month, in some cases years. There is a lot of stock piling done that we don't know about I'm sure. I know I have made jams/jellies/preserves and have had them sit in the cupboard for 5 years and they were still good. |

We’re Not Hearing About It Should there be actual shortages of food, there would be a need for some sort of food rationing. That would be a function of the USDA (US Department of Agriculture), who would be responsible for putting some sorts of controls in place, ensuring that the food which our farmers are producing would be properly allocated, so that everyone’s needs would be met. read Can The Food Run Short? There are places in the world today where food shortages are the norm. I’ve had church pastors from other countries in my home, who have told me about the people they bury, even children, because they’ve starved to death. This is a very real problem in a number of different countries. It’s not something made up by non-profit organizations, to try and get your money. Are we going to run into that problem here in the USA? We could, but we probably won’t. As a country, we produce something like 180 billion tons of food per year. Of that, about a third actually goes to waste, not ending up on anyone’s dining room table. read.. read,and,read...and... Actual food shortages would mean riots in the streets. The snowflakes would be killing each other over the last Big Mac. The cities would burn. This could be a cleansing scenario, but it would be expensive. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the rest of us would go on with life. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. "America is at that awkward stage. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78305950 We need to train our own. Screw immigration. Americans have always been the most innovative and hardest working people on the planet. While there are not too many young farmers, when the shit hits the fan, a lot of people will be ready to learn from the old guys. Importing workers is just importing problems from somewhere else. The people that are working to make a living are not going to pick up and move to another country looking for work. What you get are the dregs of society. Most immigrants, legal or illegal, are on some form of government assistance. We do not need any more of them! If they come to work, they can pay their own way. With 95% getting a hand out from our tax dollars, it's obvious why they are coming here. AMERICAN JOBS FOR AMERICANS! Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. "America is at that awkward stage. The amount of food wasted alone is a travesty. If there is ever a food shortage, we can alleviate it greatly by taking measures to not waste food. |

User ID: 77853541 Panama 02/17/2020 05:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | An actual famine in the USA should not be possible, considering the sheer quantity of various foods the USA produces and even overproduces. The USA is called the "World's Breadbasket" for a reason. That doesn't mean that shortages could not occur due to food grown in the USA being shipped out of the country "Irish Potato Famine 2.0"-style. Note that during the notorious 19th-century famine, ample food of many varieties was being grown in Ireland, but being shipped out of the country at gunpoint while the Irish were left to starve. The Irish themselves had been trapped in an economic system that left them to subsist on tiny plots of sub-par land good for nothing but growing potatoes, and a blight wiped out all the potato crops. At the time, Ireland was occupied by a foreign power that showed the Irish no pity and worked them to death while they starved. For more info, do a search on the "Roads to Nowhere" AKA the "Famine Roads" created when the occupiers decided that the "lazy" Irish needed to work for the food aid that the rest of the world had so generously donated. This is what happens when indigenous croplands become increasingly foreign owned. The amount of US farmland that's foreign owed has doubled in a decade. I'd say the amount is still too small to make a serious dent, but it is a growing trend that we should be keeping a close eye on. When did the trend start? Yup, it started under Obama. Anonymous Coward User ID: 72497887 United States 02/17/2020 05:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Midwest Breadbasket 2019 crops are Loaded With Molds! Yes the planting season was late, but More importantly September-December was Horrible for harvest and drying of crops. On top of that 8 Midwest States had such Massive Propane Shortages(Needed To Dry Grain to Prevent Further Molds!) and that really compounded every problem leading up to harvest. These Molds(Mycotoxins) will cause further illnesses over this upcoming year of 2020. Livestock will be eating moldy grains this year too. During the 2019 propane shortage that I predicted months Before it happened, some farmers were told it was OK to store wet grains as long as it stayed BELOW Freezing the entire winter. 2 weeks later it was ABOVE Freezing, and this was a very mild winter. Worst Case scenario. The 2019 Midwest Crops are Worse than anyone is saying. MAGA |
