Father Gheorghe Calciu recounted us the following:

"Two American Orthodox have responded to the invitation of the Russian Ministry of Education to teach Christian morality in several Russian prisons and orphanages. This is how they arrived, full of zeal, in the settlement with over a hundred abandoned children (boys and girls) where they met Misha, the Lord's orphan…

"It was close to Christmas, a good time for orphans to hear - many of them for the first time - the traditional story of the Nativity. I told them about the Mother of God and the law of Joseph, how they got to Bethlehem and how, not finding another place to shoot, they went to spend the night in a stable, where that night the Baby Jesus was born, in cattle manger. Millions of women suffer from domestic violence, pornography and abortions, and yet they do not turn to God. Those beautiful lunatics who were kneeling in December 1989 and saying Our Father began to leave us. Some went far, others went up. What is left for this nation after 70 years of needs and sufferings?
The enemy presented to our souls the deceptive beauty of bodily liberty as the only redeemer. Many believed this and began a futile struggle with those who wanted to enslave our thoughts again. Much has been written, protested, fought in every way, and some of us have strongly opposed the powers of darkness. But here, 31 years have passed without any spiritual resurrection of Romania, on the contrary, increasing in need, passion and helplessness among the people. Things seem, seen even by an inexperienced person like me, worse and not better than three decades ago. Democracy, rights, a better life - all these are just words when we look at ourselves and see that we are not better, cleaner, more forgiving than then. It seems that our souls have hardened and our deeds are against our thoughts, to confess that we are not better than 31 years ago, although maybe many would say otherwise.

One of the greatest sins in the world, the killing of babies, cries out from the ground through the blood of the tens of millions of abortions that Romanians have had in three decades. That is why we should not marvel at the evil that is upon us and wait for nothing good until we begin the true correction of the nation, which is repentance. The people demand Romanian leaders, honest and lovers of the nation. Do you think they will ever show up if we don't change our lives? Do you think that there will be any human, political solution to the soul cry of the nation? After 31 years, Valeriu Sterian's verse remains alive: "Lord, come Lord, see what is left of the people!"

Our steadfastness has remained in evil, and no matter how much the great clergy cry out to us, orally or through their writings, we still do not move ourselves. 31 years in which on this earth blessed by God the greatest fornications, drunkenness, murders and thefts took place. Since they produce nothing more for society, people who were talking about a future world with goods and women in common and with children to be taken over by the state! It's Romania of 2020, not Sweden, not the USA, not Australia! These are children of the Romanian nation, raised in these 31 years in our bosom, they are among ours and not among foreigners!
