People pray to the Saints and NOT to a piece of wood or stone or coloured glass.

We do not make ourselves gods of the holy icons, but by honoring the holy face, the icon, we honor God of the True One, or His Most Holy Mother, or the saint painted in it. Looking at the holy face with our material eyes, we turn our spiritual eyes to the first face, to its prototype. The holy icons, like the Holy Scriptures, remind us of real people and events. Did not the Lord and our God Jesus Christ, whom we honor and praise through these images, incarnate and live on earth among us in reality? Did not the Most Holy Mother of God live on earth, whose icon was painted by St. Luke the Evangelist? And She blessed the icon in question and said, "In this way My grace will remain forever." Do the mindless sectarians know that? Have they not heard how many miracles are performed through the icons of the Most Holy Mother of God?
