Pentagon budget 2021: US Navy cuts ship procurement in budget request

While the US Navy (USN) has touted ambitious shipbuilding plans to reach a fleet size of 355 ships or more, the service is proposing an estimated 17% cut in ship procurement for fiscal year (FY) 2021, compared with the funding enacted in FY 2020.
