The coronavirus 'super-spreader' in Brighton has spoken from his hospital bed to say he has beaten the deadly infection.

Steve Walsh, 53, is still in quarantine at Guy's Hospital in London today after picking up the virus at a Singapore conference at the end of last month. He had no symptoms until he returned to the UK.

Mr Walsh, a dad-of-two, is an assistant cub scout leader at the 3rd Hove St Leonards Scout Group where the children know him as 'Shere Khan', according to reports.

It is feared he may have come into contact with hundreds of people - and unknowingly infected at least 11 - between his contracting the deadly coronavirus and his isolation.

•The 53-year-old scout leader contracted the virus during a conference at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Singapore organised by Servomex

•He then travelled to Les Contamines-Montjoie, near Megeve, for a ski break to stay with friends

•Mr Walsh then flew from Geneva to London on an easyJet plane with 100-plus passengers

•He went to his local pub, The Grenadier in Hove, for a drink on Saturday February 1

•Also attended a group yoga session in a church hall on Monday February 3

•On February 6 he called the NHS 111 after receiving a warning over conference coronavirus virus

•Then he walked into Brighton hospital's A&E with flu symptoms and being rushed into quarantine in London last week

Several staff members who were working at The Grenadier on the night Mr Walsh visited have been advised to 'self-isolate'.

But a spokesman for the pub said it would remain open after discussions with Public Health England.

"We have followed the advice and have worked closely with Public Health England who have advised us that there is minimal ongoing risk of infection to either guests or staff, so please be reassured that the pub remains open for business as usual."
