It’s true that the literacy rates in America are extremely low compared to the rest of the developed world. For example, America’s literacy rates are extremely low compared to pretty much ANY European country. Even the poor ones. In fact, the poorer European countries have some of the highest literacy rates, because those countries are homogeneous and have few immigrants. So what’s America’s excuse here for low literacy? You can’t blame “poverty” on that one.
