The virus itself is not a problem. Although contagious, its unlikely that it can cause a massive depopulation. But people are a problem. When it starts to spread, people panic and panicked masses, usually do some serious damage. They can start bank runs, pillaging and all that shit. So the virus is not the problem, the civil unrest it can cause is.
