Projecting? It’s entirely possible, especially if it’s a subconscious thought.

Just wanted to be clear, I didn’t word my comment correctly. I was referring to “spirits”, hungry ghosts or whatever makes some people’s hair stand up, not evolved, incomprehensible (To us humans) 5D beings. Just some silly examples-Friend tells me his house is haunted, has a recording of an unintelligible EVP. Says his wife feels uneasy when she’s home before him. He knows I’m interested in topics of high strangeness, so I spend a night there, nothing notable happens. Activity starts up over 2 weeks later, I stay again, this time with a spirit box. It kept spitting out words like “power” “afraid” “sorry” “stop”. Actually it said afraid 3 times during 37 minutes with it. Normally I chalk a one-off like that to coincidence, but there were 2 other instances(different locations) where “afraid and “fear” were heard multiple times, on different boxes. I’ve never had what I thought was a supernatural experience, it was only after the 2nd instance where a friend brought up the fact that these things don’t want to come out when I’m around. Kinda mirrors my love life, ha kinda kidding. Anyway, this wasn’t supposed to be such a long post, but I thank you for your work and sending good energies my way, seriously!
