‘I’m worried:’ Amber Alert issued 1 week after Milwaukee mother, daughters reported missing

Saturday, Feb. 15 marked one week since a Milwaukee mother and her two daughters were reported missing — and an Amber Alert was issued.

Valeria Spinner-Banks

“I’m worried,” said Valeria Spinner-Banks, who never thought her daughter, Amarah “Jerica” Banks and her grandchildren would be on a national poster. “This is going out to all of the hotels, and police departments, and hospitals.”

The last time Spinner-Banks saw the three of them was Friday, Feb. 7 — after a funeral for Jerica’s 1-year-old son, Arzel. The boy died from natural causes. Jerica was dropped off at home with the kids — and has not been heard from since.

“It’s not consistent with her,” said Spinner-Banks. “The whole thing isn’t consistent.”

Described as responsible, Jerica has not been to work — nor the kids to school.

“Her life revolves around her family and her children,” Spinner-Banks said. “It’s just not like her, so I know something is wrong.”

Spinner-Banks asked the community to continue to look at and share the pictures — and holding out hope the public can help find them safe.

“We are just trying to keep positive,” Spinner-Banks said. “The family, we are trying to stray strong, but it’s just not that easy, so we need all the help we can get basically.”

Dad and his car are in custody.

Articles saying natural causes for the son's death, other articles saying unknown.

If Dad thought Mom killed his son, and she and kids went missing immediately after the funeral, no telling what could have happened.

They were last seen after the funeral at 1 am.

Articles give a street corner. Did dad say he dropped them off?

Officials have not said why it was canceled or if Amarah "Jerica" Banks, 26, Zaniya Ivery, 5, and Camaria Banks, 4, have been found.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office said it was on the scene of a triple homicide in the 4700 block of West Burleigh Street.

The victims have not yet been identified.

The three were all last believed to be in the company of Arzel J. Ivery, 25, of Milwaukee, who is now in police custody.

According to court records, Ivery was charged Saturday with aggravated battery.

Court records show his address as being in the 4700 block of West Burleigh Street.

Black people yelling in the background, they had to move the cameras out of range twice. "Fuck the Po-Leece" "Why didn't you do the amber alert earlier" "If it was a little blond girl you would have done it earlier" "Why you think we act the way we do?"

Police said they couldn't say what their cause of death was yet - but then he went into a rant about domestic violence, that it isn't the police's fault.

They were found in a garage.

The Dad is in memphis being held and his charges will be upgraded later.

WATN-TV in Memphis told WISN 12 News Ivery's father came home to find his son at his home.

Memphis police said Ivery told his father about the deaths in Milwaukee and his father flagged down an officer to take his son into custody.

Police said Ivery gave investigators information that led to the three bodies.

He was described as being the ex-boyfriend of Amarah "Jerica" Banks.

Re: Amber Alert Milwaukee - Cancelled - Oh shit they're dead
The medical examiner’s report said Ivery Jr. had a history of asthma since birth, treated with nebulizers/albuterol, and wheezing and gasping symptoms were worsening over the week or two preceding his death on Jan. 24. He was also sick with a cold. He died in the emergency room after he arrived unresponsive — transported to the hospital by Ivery Sr. The report noted he had a Feb. 25 surgery scheduled to remove his tonsils and adenoids in an effort to alleviate some of the asthma issues.

The cause of death was determined to be viral bronchitis and bronchiolitis, with the manner of death ruled accidental in the report.

The report said Ivery Sr. had been staying at Jerica’s home, with whom he shared two children, including the baby, because his was “recently” destroyed in a fire. He also sometimes stayed there because it was closer to Ivery Jr.’s day care. The report said when he was working, the children would go to day care, but when he was not, “he wanted to be the main caregiver for the three children.” The report said “he did not feel comfortable having a baby sitter come to the residence because of concern for the safety of the female children.”

The morning Ivery Jr. died, Ivery Sr. was caring for the children while Jerica was at work. The report said Ivery Jr. was rejected from day care around 9 a.m. that day because he was “too sick.” Ivery Sr. then took the baby to work to let them know he couldn’t work because his child was sick. He then tried to get some food for the baby, but the baby wouldn’t eat. He also tried giving him medication, but he would not take it, the report said. He said they ran errands, arriving back at Jerica’s around noon, where the child slept on and off through the afternoon — the report indicating Ivery Sr. said the child’s wheezing and gasping was worse than when he was awake, but he wanted to let him rest because he didn’t seem to feel well. He said around 3 p.m., he tried waking the baby up from a nap, but the child wouldn’t wake up.

Ivery Sr. then said he woke the child, got him ready to go pick up the other children, and noticed the boy was making “slow gasping” sounds. They arrived around 3:30 p.m., and the report said the principal told Ivery Sr. the child looked worse and he should get him to the hospital. The report said Ivery Sr. stopped to get snacks for the girls and then went to the hospital, where a nurse assessed the child and found he had no pulse.

According to the report, Jerica told investigators at the hospital she had no concerns about Ivery Sr.’s care of the children, and there was no violence in the home.

‘Don’t kill me:’ Neighbor reported argument between Jerica Banks, Arzel Ivery after funeral, complaint says

A search of the home revealed a missing comforter on a bed, and a napkin with what appeared to be two small droplets of blood on it, along with a large hole on the wall, consistent with something hitting it, like someone’s head.

A neighbor who shared a concrete wall with Banks said she was asleep when she was woken by the sound of three to four large thumping sounds through the shared wall, as if someone was slamming a person’s head on the wall. She then heard a woman screaming, “No, no, I didn’t even do anything.” She then heard a door slam. Later, she heard the female and male again, with the female screaming, “Don’t kill me.”

The neighbor’s roommate said she was woken up by the neighbor who said a male “was beating the hell out of a girl” — the neighbor on the phone with 911.

The roommate said she saw Banks running through the parking lot to another building, not wearing shoes, bleeding from the mouth, the complaint said. She saw the male who lives with Banks drag her back to the apartment as Banks screamed, “No, no, please don’t kill me.”

The neighbors told FOX6 the two young girls were crying outside their apartment.

The complaint said Ivery Sr. told investigators there was an argument after the funeral because “Banks blamed (Arzel) for the death of their son.” He said Banks told him she couldn’t even look at him because he reminded her of their son.
He said Banks was “making a scene” and he had to “coach” her back into the apartment when she went outside.
