We're still using conventional rockets even if you do change what comes out the bottom of them. It's time for a change. Rocket propulsion is kind of antiquated. I've seen it since before Yuri Gagarin's flight, Sputnik and all that. There's been advancement being made but only very little. The principle stays the same Wernher von Braun's VI and V2. It's what a new school of scientists such as Pulsar Dr James Lambert are trying to do. I came. I saw. I Concorde. Head of operations at Pulsar, Dr James Lambert added: “This first round of tests is designed to locate our concept in space design and explore state of the art electric propulsion. “It included electrical and vacuum subsystem validation, as well as using a materials testing suite to establish flight parameters and minimum viable product specifications for the new generation of thruster engines.” Conventional rockets have a maximum exhaust speed of around 40,000mph, meaning a journey to Mars, as envisaged by billionaire entrepreneur and would-be colonist Elon Musk, would take six months for a one-way trip. -50% [link to www.express.co.uk (secure)] The British aerospace sector was always on top. I have seen the Sputnik, Yuri Gagarin's flight, Apollo missions taking humans on the Moon, Space Shuttles... Now NASA and ESA astronauts have to buy seats from Russia to get to the only outpost in low Earth orbit, the ISS. It seems we are devolving. All of that is old school. We will not place humans on Mars with what we now have. I say impossibru... unless something entirely new and different and non fossil fuels dependent comes about in propulsion systems. I want to see it happening before I leave this world. I think some have the keys. Pulsar Dr James Lambert is one of them with his tested system. I would like to see the UK coming ahead in the field.
