The link shows the robot in a regular room. Does Scottsdale even have negative pressure isolation rooms. Light travels in a straight line any shaded areas would not be affected. While good for aiding general contamination control that robot would not be enough for a BSL 4 organism. |

But UV-c does kill pretty much all viruses and bacteria. It is just not for humans, but areas. Most UV-c systems are in duct work /hvac systems so humans are not exposed to the light. |

UV light does a good job. Perhaps you've once visited a public toilet with special lamps which is used to kill germs. I think they send out a mix of UV light and "ordinary" violet/blue light to kill germs. |

[snip] Quoting: CitizenPerth SCOTTSDALE, AZ ( 3TV/CBS 5 ) - As the United States continues to try and prevent anymore coronavirus cases, Honor Health hospitals in the valley have a futuristic way of killing that virus nearly 100% of the time. [WATCH: Honor Health in Scottsdale using germ-zapping robots] It's all because of a zapping robot. Meet Sadie. She's one of 32 germ-zapping robots Honor Health hospitals now have to clean patient rooms and the ICU with UV light. “Gets rid of the residual viruses and bacteria and spores,” said infectious disease officer Laura Schroder. The robots are so powerful that no one can be in the room during the four-minute cycle, with a caution sign outside the door. But now, Schroder said, the robots can be key to battling the novel coronavirus. “A study out of Africa that they did found that it could reduce the germs leftover in the room by well over 99%,” Schroder said. Most UV lights are UVC wave lentgh. It'll probably kill the virus but it's bad for your skin. There is a new UV lamp out that is suppose to be ok to be around. Far-UVC. The robots clean the rooms alone. No one allowed in. Cause UVC light is dangerous. |

UV sterilizers have been around for a long time. My high school Chen lab even had them for goggles and such. They are very effective and harmless as long as you don’t look at it when it’s on. I’m surprised they aren’t used more often. |

You can have the uv lights put into your hvac system also along with uv lights in your water system. |
