Just bought 50 gallons of water to be delivered on Thursday.

At 1/2 gallon a day, that’s 100 days.

At 1/3 gallon a day, can stretch to 150 days.

Not really a lot. ~5 months.

You better off leaving the money in the market and using a credit card to buy supplies and get rewards from the credit card. Then sell your stocks higher to pay off the debt. IF the market goes lower well you still have your stocks and supplies and can wait it out. Your supplies will have gone up in value if shit hits the fan.

OP, this week I closed out all my investment positions on 3 separate portfolios. Told my broker why and she disagreed. But I explained if I’m wrong and the market continues to climb over the next 60-90 days, I stand to lose additional capital gains, but if I’m right and the market slides, then I stand to lose ALL the gains I made in 2019. Moreover, when the market DOES slide, as I believe it surely will, I will move my money back into the market and repurchase all those shares at fire sale prices.
