Medical and scientific experts now agree that bacteria, not influenza viruses, were the greatest cause of death during the 1918 flu pandemic.

Government efforts to gird for the next influenza pandemic – bird flu or otherwise – ought to take notice and stock up on antibiotics, says John Brundage, a medical microbiologist at the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Brundage’s team culled first-hand accounts, medical records and infection patterns from 1918 and 1919. Although a nasty strain of flu virus swept around the world, bacterial pneumonia that came on the heels of mostly mild cases of flu killed the majority of the 20 to 100 million victims of the so-called Spanish flu, they conclude.

“We agree completely that bacterial pneumonia played a major role in the mortality of the 1918 pandemic,” says Anthony Fauci, director of National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Disease in Bethesda, Maryland, and author of another journal article out next month that comes to a similar conclusion.

It was VIRAL NOT bacterial, and indeed pneumonia! By the way, I am Jewish, my people are gathering today at the Western/Wailing wall to pray to HaShem for the world that HE stops this virus! PLEASE search your heart about us! What you are being told about us is a LIE!

"Spanish flu" victims actually died from bacterial pneumonia that was caused when bacteria that normally inhabit the nose and throat invaded the lungs along a pathway created when the 1918 Spanish flu virus destroyed the cells that line the bronchial tubes and lungs.

This article is absolute bullshit.

I am going to pick up the phone and call the fuckers who are mentioned in this article tomorrow. SERIOUSLY!

Cytokine Storm is almost ALWAYS the cause of death from FLU.

Secondary infections from bacteria CAN become established after the patient has recovered from the actual virus. This is due to the death of tissue in the lungs due to the build up of fluid and Bacteria then moves in to do it's job. Problem is the bacteria keeps going, enters the blood stream and the patient becomes septic. This would kill pretty almost 100% of the people infected in 1918.

The problem is, people got sick once, and died.

If it were bacteria, people would get sick, then get better, then get sick again, and die. It would have been a protracted process that took well over a week from the first fever to death. Sometimes well over a month before death.

The Spanish flu was reported as making ppl sick, then killing them. Even the descriptions of the bluing of the lips is indicative of a death by cytokine storm. Not a secondary infection. I'm going to read this article a few more times to see if it was manipulated or these sources are simply that stupid.

For example I could say... some people thrown out of a airlock would die from a heart attack before the vacuum of space caused tissue damage. But I'd be a piece of shit to state the majority of space deaths are from heart attack.

This article is such bullshit and I promise I will actually pick up the phone and call these ppl to see if they've been miss-quoted.

The first images of viruses were obtained upon the invention of electron microscopy in 1931 by the German engineers Ernst Ruska and Max Knoll. In 1935, American biochemist and virologist Wendell Meredith Stanley examined the tobacco mosaic virus and found it was mostly made of protein. A short time later, this virus was separated into protein and RNA parts. The tobacco mosaic virus was the first to be crystallised and its structure could therefore be elucidated in detail. The first X-ray diffraction pictures of the crystallised virus were obtained by Bernal and Fankuchen in 1941. On the basis of her pictures, Rosalind Franklin discovered the full structure of the virus in 1955.

The article claims that the flu killed some of the cells in the respirtory track which were then used as food for local bacteria. And this caused pnuemonia that resulted in death.

I would say that a person with a existing H-Pylori infection MIGHT have a issue with a large amount of lung damage.

Obviously, a TB patient is going to have problems. But WAY more ppl died of the Spanish Flu than did those who died from TB in 1918.

influenza ( flu ) is a viral infection which damages the lung tissue making it susceptible to bacterial invasion

there are lots of viruses which can cause flu like symptoms

most people who die from 'flu '-regardless of the initial viral pathogen don't die in the viral influenza stage - usually they did of bacterial pneumonia which is secondary

cytokine storm is when there is massive lysis by white cells of invading pathogen while in the blood stream - aka sepsis

and yes , that's what usually triggers disseminated intravascular coagulation and death

so some of what you are saying is correct

but mostly , it's not

She guessed, based on 100 years of flu data, that MAYBE 5% of those who survived the Virus; got sick from the latent fluid in their lungs. And would have died from a bacterial infection. So 5% of those AFTER they recovered.
