Re: Getting Groceries in the Age of the Corona Virus
Wrap a circular around the grocery cart handle to avoid touching. Have been doing this for years, those things have been touched by 100s of people every day.

Have a glove for pumping gas.

Use card, no cash or change to touch.

Open door handled with your elbow if possible or wrost or fisted hand, no fingers if possible.

Push buttons w knuckles not fingers. Have disinfectant wipes for after shopping, when transferring groceries to car or wherever.

Someone coughs or sneezes hold your breath instantly, move away & breathe out first. Breathe next breath in from under your shirt collar if possible.

That's all I got

lmao I do all of that, but you really got me with the "hold your breath when someone cough or sneezes" because I do that since a kid also lmao lmao lmao

Despite all of that, I get one cold a year. It's good having a cold per year because it acts like a reset to your body, expurges nasty stuff and gain more immunity.

Using a card will not help much, how many people touched that keypad or pen?

I carry purell hard surface spray and sanitizer everywhere.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78323780

As long as you don't have open wounds in your fingers, it's ok to touch most things. When I get the chance, I wash my hands with water and soap. Hand sanitizers feels like you are scrubbing the germs around your hands, running water with soap flushes them down the drain. Then if you want to be double cautious, you can purell your hands after washing them.

It may feel like your pushing them around, but you're killing the virus. The oil will stick to virus while the alcohol kills it. Just like any other bug, a virus needs oxygen.
Come on and take a free ride.

Filth and virus and bactera on every surface at the grocery store, including every product on the shelves.

The grocery cart - if you touch the handle of the cart without sanitizing it, your hands will be covered in germs. Hope you don't touch your face till you get home to wash your hands. Don't put your finger in your mouth. Is there a tiny cut on your hand?

Fresh produce - how to you get it clean enough to eat? Especially if it is to be eaten raw.

Handling self checkout machines - the touch screens - GROSS. Touching the cup where change is dispensed into. Everyone else has touched it, and they have not washed their hands, even after the last time they took a dump.

What you gonna do about it? Ideas?

I don't believe a sterile environment is healthy...I wash produce under tap water...I do use hand sanitizer when I get home from do anything, other than that I don't stress out about germs...

A sterile environment isn’t healthy. And stress will kill.

Get a portable UVC sanitation wand.

Bought this one.

[link to www.amazon.com (secure)]

Take it in the store with you. Run it over the grocery cart handle, groceries, produce, etc.

The same sanitation method used by hospitals.

Interesting thread, wondering myself last few days to go to the store or not. First time ordered online and home delivered. ( My sis been doing it for 10 years ). Got them all inside, next time will probably try to leave them under the sun for 2-3 days.

Suit up.
Or just don't worry about it.
Afterall, most survive. And if you survive the Coronavirus, you'll be immune to it.
 Quoting: Sikhed

You would think but they say if reinfected it is even more deadly. Why would that be? I suppose they mean you are immune until you aren't via mutations.

Just got back from the store, wiping things down with Clorox wipes.

Now you see the problem. If it gets going in this country, nobody will escape it. Once it is in schools, the kids will bring it home with them. They will spread it to grocery stores and malls, doctors' waiting rooms, ball fields... There is not enough help to disinfect every place victims might have been. Unless you are locked in your home with enough provisions to last it out you will be exposed.

It might be weak for anyone but Asians, let's hope.

Or it might be a big fake.

I believe GA Girl is Asian.
So if that's the case it would be a huge problem for her and her family.

Re: Getting Groceries in the Age of the Corona Virus
the cashiers at lowes, walmart and other stores have been givin me funny looks and attitudes for the last few weeks because I refuse to touch those card reader machines. I just tell them I don't want to touch those things because of the virus goin around and that hundreds of people a day touch those nasty things and they are never wiped clean. i make them do it for me. I leave any change that comes out in those change cup things. I have started taking gloves with me when I have to get groceries at Walmart because I use the self check out machines, same when I pump gas. its like they are trying to make it where you almost have to use these things after other nasty people and are forced to spread germs everywhere. have been wondering for a while if this was an intentional side effect of using such things that can easily transfer germs and viruses.

Yeah it' dangerous to touch those filthy touch screens at stores. Carry wet Clorox wipes in a gallon size freezer baggy, or sandwich baggy in your coat pocket, and wipe down those touch screens and credit card readers, and other surfaces that MANY other people touch that you have to touch. Wipe that shit down with Clorox wipes RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE CASHIER if you have to. Make sure to wipe your hands off regularly with these also.

These bleach wipes are probably not good for the skin, but they are mostly for going to gross filthy stores, or for any situation where you have to touch a public filthy surface.

This is not true. If you are reinfected and you can get reinfected, you can die of a sudden heart attack because it weakens your heart. Does something with ACE inhibitors. why some are convulsing. You probably posted though before we had more info on this.

No, I'm not Asian. I have a lot of Asians in my family through marriage and adoption, however, so it would be a big deal for my family.

Any of them Thai? Would any of them happen to be from Bangkok? Or maybe from Phuket?
