His father was a medical staffer and the guy got an IV drip for a day of HIV anti virals which brought his fever down, and then five days of oral anti virals. Before that he felt like he was going to die. This is an unnerving report, because I think we can assume that any anti virals available would have been used on the Hospital Director. Perhaps he was tired out and his immune system was stressed? Maybe he smoked? Or maybe they don't actually work all that well? At any rate, I have been hoping that the reports of HIV and Ebola anti virals being used successfully are true, and that production of anti virals will be intensively geared up. But reading this, I wonder how efficacious they really are. Very very sad. |
