Seriously.. even though this cure is black market and uber expensive it shows us there is a cure.

My guess is the overwhelming demand for such a drug is why everyone is so hush hush about it. Only the elites can afford it. Nothing new.

Stay safe everyone.

Info here for more of what they are trying to do to combat this virus.

Not new news (from Feb 14th) but it shows at least they are trying.

Plasma transfusions and Remdesivir seem to be the leading anti-virals so far.

Re: Feline treatment for Coronavirus could stop spread of Covid-19? New trials started.
I posted this theory (why aren't we looking at this miracle drug that works on cats?) in several of the coronavirus threads on here. As a veterinarian, I have never seen anything like it. FIP/feline coronavirus infection tends to be a death sentence. In the wet form, there is pleural effusion resulting in mechanical obstruction of respiration and/or peritoneal exudate causing pressure on the organs.
I wondered aloud what the fatal mechanism was of the novel coronavirus because all I have seen is 'organ failure' or 'hypoxia' but not what the actual physiological effects are.
In the two cats I have seen owners treat with this medication, both had an almost immediate recovery from a near death situation. As in, I normally would have been euthanizing them that day or the next..I have had other cats that we were able to drain the fluid from and give them a stay of execution, but it was palliative and the most I have seen was maybe 6 months. This drug offers a cure, but is averaging 3k per cat, which is not doable for most of my clients.

Recommended dosage of 2mg/kg every 24hrs for 12 weeks: [link to www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov (secure)]

For a 100kg person, that would be 200mg/day

$337.50 for 100mg: [link to aobious.com (secure)]

So $675/day for a 100kg person, and a mere $56,700 for a 12 week course

Yikes.

In this clip from a Simpsons episode they call a virus just like this one "The Purrfect Storm" because it came from cats. I wondered how that might play into this event. Maybe this is how...cat medicine.

It mainly causes upper respiratory or gi signs and is over but a few individuals (mutated virus? Genetically predisposed? Immune reaction?) get FIP and before these meds, they died.
