It is very hard to get them, as you have to register (apply & do a test) & give reasons to have them (for protection eg).
AIR guns would be freely available.
If you're a hunter, you get weapons. Or if you're in a shooting sports club.
OTHERWISE: NO! Big NO! There you are right.
+ NEVER will you get automatics. No way.

And even for WRONG political opinions your license you legally got can be WITHDRAWN! As you then are "not reliable". This also can go for the DRIVING LICENSE!
