Torture them??? You and humans like you are far more evil than any dog I ever met or ever will meet. Odds are it was a human abused this dog or trained it to attack small animals. Physically, their jaws are built very powerfully (bred that way for fighting).. and canines are animals of prey. Their instinct kicks in and after quickly sizing up their "prey", will attack if it feels it can overpower it (and usually they easily can), and then proceed to tear into their next meal. Pure survival instinct, you have to eat to live. As pets, they're really not that bad.. but just beware of these tendencies. They're friendly and loyal to their owners and people they know. (I don't have one nor would I get one).

Unfortunately, many children and smaller adults fit this "prey" profile for this powerful breed. Their added native aggressive tendency provides no check or balance. If you have one of these, have a very secure fence in your yard. Insurance companies will raise your premium or cancel you if you have one. You can be sued for all you've got should something like this happen.

People have guard dogs to be alerted to the presence of intruders to better protect their castles and families, hands down the most reliable alert system ever devised to protect ones home and loved ones, every other manmade system fails and is unreliable, usually it summons the death squad to your address, and people end up shot dead by the ‘heroes’ in uniform. Whereas a dog serves as a deterrent as well as reinforcement, at best, and a decoy at worst case scenario.

I think if you rattle or jangle a set of keys, that scares them enough that they back off. That's not a sound found in nature, and will make them back off in fear.

The animal shelters around the USA are filled to capacity with pit bulls. The idiots running these shelters actually adopt out these fierce animals into family settings.

That should be a crime, they were bread to be catch dogs to catch badgers , bulls , hogs and what not. These dogs as I said are work animals, they have their place and are needed as working animals to corral wild hogs, badgers and things like that. But like a work mule you don't bring your work animal into the house with your children.

Pit Bulls started in Europe with the rat terriers who would go into holes or anywhere to catch and kill rats, *the plaque creators. These dogs were too small to bring down things like badgers, they were game but too small.

The solution was to breed the rat terrier with the original English bulldogs who were used to bring down bulls, they would hold and control the bulls for the farmers.

The cross breeding of the very game and brave rat terriers to the very game and brave English bulldogs created a much larger and stronger breed of animal. They were then called Bull Terriers.

Now for the snowflakes who don't know, the current day english bulldogs have been so line breed and inbreed that they are weak physically and mentally. Most are a walking vet bill.

From the Bull Terrier in or around the late 1800's Americans then selectively line breed these Bull Terriers to become the American Pit Bull dog, again CATCH DOGS, breed to CATCH AND KILL their prey.

They were used to bring badgers out of holes, rat killing contest and eventually game dog on game dog where they were matched against one another in a PIT. They are breed for one purpose, TO KILL. When they get into that kill zone it is almost impossible to stop them, they seem to be immune to pain.

They are not now nor have they ever been a family pet. They are a tool like a donkey used to plow fields, or mules used to protect the goats from predators, they have their purpose as a tool.

Whether they realize it or not, the people who constantly defend pit bulls, are displaying behavior that is moronic.

Does that make All pit bulls terrible. No, however, Pit Bulls make up only 6% of the dog population, but they’re responsible for 68% of dog attacks and 52% of dog-related deaths.
