Exactly. It is not taxed like the packs of smokes. you can get a machine that you can make a smoke in about 2 seconds and can buy any type of tobacco you like. I go for the natural no additive type.

Here's some of the technical stuff on how nicotine is protective against SARS viruses.

SARS1 and COVID-19 both target a part of the Renin-angiotensin system (RAS) called ACE2 receptors. MERS is different. This one is potentially highly lethal to smokers and diabetics since it targets DPP4, a substance that is elevated in smokers and diabetics, hence the very high kill rate of 30%+. It doesn't spread well, thank goodness.

Older people have more ACE2 but older people with comorbidities also take messaging like ACE inhibitors(.... pril), angiotension receptor blockers (losartan) and statins. While there is no doubt at all that these are effective for the conditions they are prescribed for, they do enlarge the target area for the virus that just happens to aim for it. Funny how ACE2 receptors were first discovered in 2000 and by 2003 a virus appears that miraculously targets it. Hey, these viruses must be reading out journals lol

So, I strongly believe that age is a risk factor because of the extra ACE2 but the comorbidities are an additional risk, not because of the underlying health condition, but because of the medication that raises ACE2 further in these people.

Only one substance is known to decrease ACE2 and that is nicotine. And they have been telling you to stop that shit. Go figure :)

Just search nicotine and SARS, nicotine and influenza, and nicotine and cytokine storm. Also nitric oxide and SARS.

Nicotine reduces ACE2 which should lead to higher blood pressure. But for some reason it doesn't and the reason is that it upgrades nitric oxide production (NO is a vasodilator which means it dilates blood vessels and reduces pressure).

It does this by activating the acetylcholine channels of NO activation. The acetylcholine activation is also interestingly what wards off the old age diseases of Alzheimers and parkinsons. The benefit of the NO in the case of SARS virus is that NO interferes with virus replication. Win / win.

Guess what? As you get older you express more and more ACE2 as your acetylcholine production falls. Young kids and younger adults have lower ACE2 levels and higher acetylcholine, hence higher NO.

Studies from both Hong Kong on SARS shows that not a single medical worker who died of SARS was a smoker. Only 9% of those suffering severe symptoms was a smoker, out of a male smoking population of 28%.

In Wuhan 2 studies were done and they showed just 4% and 1.4% smokers suffering severe /critical symptoms. 60+ of makes the are smokers.

Also ZERO asthma or COPD sufferers were notified in either of these studies. Why? They typically express low ACE2 levels.

I had the coronavirus, and as a vaper, it made things FAR more difficult.

I've been vaping for about 8 years, and have mild asthma.

When I got coronavirus, at first it seemed like a mild cold. Then it disappeared for a few days, and then returned FULL BLAST. It hit HARD. Fever, shortness of breath, dry cough , sore muscles were my worst symptoms. I had the runs for a day as well.



Anyway, I caught the virus at the end of Febuary. It hit REALLY bad on March 2nd. It took WEEKS to recover. Several visits to the urgent care, lung specialist, etc. To this day, I still can't vape. I've been wearing nicotine patches since. I still have shortness of breath going up stairs or taking showers.


I will never go back to vaping. When I would try to vape, my lungs would close up immediately.

There are some doctors in areas in Washington that believe quite a few of the young cases (20s to 40s) that end up in the ICU who were otherwise healthy are because they are vapers.

I am a smoker and I hate smoking. I'm addicted to nicotine and was addicted to nicotine replacement for as many years as to the actual sticks.

I noticed many years ago that the years I was off the cigs, I was sick with respiratory viruses way more than when I had been smoking. After googling said that was my lungs purging tar but it wasn't … it was an upper respiratory infection and it happened a couple times a year.

About 3 years ago I decided I could never again chew another piece of Nicorette gum and I quit … but then eventually picked the cigs back up.

I can't remember having a cough or cold since then.

I have researched over the years and the Native Americans believed that tobacco cured respiratory ailments as well as being a spiritual aid.

Before COVID, I had a feeling there was something to that.

Nicotine is a pesticide, that's why plants produce it.

Also smokers have a slime coat … my dad who worked in glass factories his whole life credited yuck from smoking with keeping him from lung damage due to glass particles.

I truly believe this is why all the drug addicts and alcoholics I see outside convenience stores and liquor stores aren't getting sick from it.
