"You're Not Robbing Shit. I Will Beat Your Ass. You Want To Go Outside...?"

37-year-old Damian McCorkle allegedly walked to a Jack In the Box and ordered some food. A witness said he was wearing a coat with his hands in his pockets, as if he was going to pull something out of it, and told the cashier he needed money, police said.

Based on statements from witnesses at the restaurant, a police report described the encounter as follows:

“I’m robbing you,” the suspect said.

“You’re not robbing shit,” the cashier replied.

“Yeah I am. I need the money,” the suspect said.

“I will beat your ass. You want to go outside and handle this?”

The suspect then left the store.

When police asked the cashier if he believed the suspect was armed, the cashier said the suspect looked more nervous than he was.

McCorkle was arrested a short time later and was identified as the robbery suspect, police said.

During an interview with police, McCorkle said he got into an argument with an employee at Jack In The Box after ordering his food. McCorkle said the employee told him the food would cost $9.40, and he replied by saying he didn’t have any money.

He said they got upset and cussed at each other, and that they were going to go outside to fight. He denied trying to rob the employee.

Officers found a screwdriver in McCorkle’s left coat pocket and confiscated it as evidence.

McCorkle was booked at the Yakima County Jail on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
