You can buy oat groats (the seeds) and you can soak and eat them raw in the absence of ability to cook. Coconuts have little protein by the way.. but the medium chain fatty acids in them are excellent brain food for energy. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78499439 Canada 02/21/2020 10:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm prepping a little 3 month stock in case there is a sudden quarantine. But I'm on a budget. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77967240 To my surprise, according to my calculations, just buying a bunch of peanut butter, oatmeal, coconut oil, and sugar seems to be the cheapest most cost effective way to get calories n protein. 1 cup of oats, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 teaspoon of sugar = 17 grams of 'complete' protein, 600 calories, and 50 percent of my daily fat intake. thing is... I can buy 15 servings of this for 3.50. 1 dollar for a jar of pb and 2.50 for the oatmeal. I already have the sugar n coconut oil n cinnamon n salt n stuff. So... for 90 days... I just need 6 jars of pb and 6 cannisters of oatmeal..... which is less than twenty bucks. So... in absolute WORST case scenario. Total quarantine for three months... If I drop forty bucks on oatmeal and peanut butter... I could be getting by on 1200 calories a day, 34 grams of protein, plenty of fat. Seems like a good 'base' to start with for my prep. I'm posting this on here because I rarely see an emphasis put on peanut butter and oatmeal. Is there something I'm missing? Some reason not to start my prep by dropping 40 bucks on oatmeal n pb? You got it! Pound for pound, there's not much more nutritionally dense food than oatmeal and peanut butter. They keep pretty much forever. No one ever talks about peanut butter or oatmeal. Oats are ready to eat in minutes also, really a fast food. Add a bag of rice, a bag of navy beans, ketchup & brown sugar for more variety, and a more diverse range of vitamins and minerals. |

Then say some oatmeal and cashew butter for few days. Then some oatmeal and dried cranberries for a treat now and then. Sounds almost like a First Strike combat ration... I'll pass on the milk. Hate that stuff... Last Edited by Tour18 on 02/21/2020 10:33 PM |

Most peanut butter removes the natural peanut oil and replaces it with toxic canola and palm oil. |

Bread also would make a very good bartering item. Flour is dirt cheap right now. That could change in as little as 10 days from now. The Bible speaks of a time coming when a loaf of bread will cost a weeks wages. Be smart about this. *Walmart ripped me off for $70 on items I ordered at the end of Jan. I've called them 5 times and they just keep giving me the run around. I wouldn't buy anything from them online. |

But this is just emergency food. If I'm actually having to live off this stuff for three months or longer, my flouride levels will be the last thing i'm worried about. |

See what you can eat out a small cooler you can carry and one backpack filled some. Half the stuff you think you’ll eat, you wont. Keep trying til you get it right. My two cents, It’s been Real, it’s been Nice, but I can’t say it’s been Real Nice! :anon: Thread: Found another countdown site. #MyOpinion2024 Vote #Trump2020 |
