Anonymous Coward User ID: 63155543 United States 02/21/2020 11:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm prepping a little 3 month stock in case there is a sudden quarantine. But I'm on a budget. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77967240 To my surprise, according to my calculations, just buying a bunch of peanut butter, oatmeal, coconut oil, and sugar seems to be the cheapest most cost effective way to get calories n protein. 1 cup of oats, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 teaspoon of sugar = 17 grams of 'complete' protein, 600 calories, and 50 percent of my daily fat intake. thing is... I can buy 15 servings of this for 3.50. 1 dollar for a jar of pb and 2.50 for the oatmeal. I already have the sugar n coconut oil n cinnamon n salt n stuff. So... for 90 days... I just need 6 jars of pb and 6 cannisters of oatmeal..... which is less than twenty bucks. So... in absolute WORST case scenario. Total quarantine for three months... If I drop forty bucks on oatmeal and peanut butter... I could be getting by on 1200 calories a day, 34 grams of protein, plenty of fat. Seems like a good 'base' to start with for my prep. I'm posting this on here because I rarely see an emphasis put on peanut butter and oatmeal. Is there something I'm missing? Some reason not to start my prep by dropping 40 bucks on oatmeal n pb? Lemme get this right....was that oatmeal and peanut butter? |

I tried eating nothing but oatmeal for a week as an experiment and by day 4 my cravings for meat were so bad I ran right out and got a big mac - yuck. I suggest weenie cakes. When my kids were little I'd make them pancakes with coin sliced hotdogs in them. They fry while the pancake is browning and taste alot like sausage. You can get 20 lbs of hamburger for around $80 bucks and stick it in the freezer. Tell the clerk you want a tube and they'll give you that discount price. If they actually use a tube - which is a bag- you'll have to separate it into portions and refreeze. I got lucky and they froze mine in 1 pound portions. Soup should be going on sale soon as spring nears. When it does snap them up. |
