Re: COVID-19 DAILY HEADLINES - Falling behind? THE MAJOR KUNG FLU UPDATES ARE HERE EVERY DAY
Even with a focus on the domestic doomlines over the international ones, there is so much to take in right now. There is no doubt more breaking headlines buried in the megathread, but if you aren’t up to date on every page there this should catch you up on the last 12 to 18 hours or so. Put on your best doomhat and break out the doom-brella, because there’s a doom storm brewing below in these headlines….

Doom is extremely fucking nigh…

Domestic Doomlines

• Have you had people call you paranoid for trying to disinfect mail and/or packages? Well, you’re not paranoid if they really are infected! - Packages may be carrying Kung Flu
• Disinfecting your mail might be a good idea too, considering one of Seattle’s latest confirmed infected is an Amazon worker
• Latest count from Washington State: 27 confirmed, 9 dead – most linked to the LifeCare Center in Kirkland
• First N. Carolina case confirmed in Wake County on Tuesday – this person was also infected at the LifeCare Center in Washington State (and probably flew home exposing who knows how many people - this broke mid afternoon after yesterday’s snapshot)
• “The Official Coronavirus Numbers Are Wrong, and Everyone Knows It” – exact MSM headline of a scathing article from the Atlantic, highlighting the testing of fewer than 500 people across the entire country
• Federal Reserve announces emergency interest rate cut of 50 basis points, but the DJIA shits the bed anyway
• Ford, Fiat Chrysler, and Amazon all ban non-essential international and domestic travel – watch what they do, not what they say about the safety of continuing to fly at this point (might as well hop on a cruise ship in SE Asia)
• US Army begins screening recruits for Kung Flu in an attempt to stop introduction of coronavirus into the ranks – the protocol lets the asymptomatic in all the same, but it’s probably the best they can do
• Hundreds likely infected in Oregon, from 300 to 500+, according to Oregon state health officer and epidemiologist Dr. Dean Sidelinger
• Rep. Mark Pocan calls CDC testing plan wholly inadequate in reference to removal of test count from CDC website
• Hand sanitizer is sold out everywhere at this point, to the extent even the MSM is handing out recipes and instructions on how to make your own
• Protein exports piling up in the US with nearly a billion pounds of chicken stuck in storage due to demand fall off from China
• San Francisco’s latest confirmed case is a man in critical condition who caught the Kung Flu via community spread
• Global poll finds that 70% of Americans would favor locking down entire cities Wuhan style if spread continues – this some of the doomiest shit because it makes Wuhan in the US more likely
• Arizona, Pennsylvania, and New Mexico say they can now test at the state level without shipping samples to the CDC – good news, but we need this in about 47 more states folks
• US Embassy refused to test staff who were exposed to the Kung Flu after visiting infected Americans on the Diamond Princess – you can make up your own “wtf is this nonsense” comment for this one
• Tampa Bay area airports ramp up cleaning and disinfecting measures
• “People should not worry any more about this than the regular flu” – You would think no one could possibly still be kicking this thoroughly debunked dead horse, but you would be wrong. Included for both your amusement and frustration
• Meanwhile, WHO says the Kung Flu CFR is at least 3.4% - far, far deadlier than regular flu the moran in the above headline says we should be more worried about (other than the stat this is a shit article, don’t waste your time)

Update: Manhattan attorney, NYCs second case, infects wife, son, daughter, and neighbor bringing city case count to six

Update: LA announces six new confirmed cases, declares state of emergency - no link, live news conference still ongoing here: (ended)

Super Doomlines

• There are now at least two strains of Kung Flu spreading around the world, strain L and strain S, and 70% of infected have caught the more aggressive and more contagious second strain – if you’ve been wondering why it’s so much worse in Italy and Iran, this may explain it
• Remember hearing about the thousands of people in the US who were “self quarantining” or “being monitored”? I told you no one is or was watching any of these people! Confirmed infected UK man who was “self quarantining” breaks quarantine to visit drug store to “stock up” on supplies exposing everyone in the store
• Why isn’t the above doomline in the international section? Because we have an example of the exact same there right here at home! – New Hampshire’s first confirmed infected, a healthcare worker no less, told to “self quarantine”, decides to go to an event instead

International Doomline

• NHS England in January declared coronavirus Level 4 Incident, highest degree of emergency, but kept it a secret from the public until just yesterday

Re: COVID-19 DAILY HEADLINES - Falling behind? THE MAJOR KUNG FLU UPDATES ARE HERE EVERY DAY
Little late getting this out this morning, have been tied up last couple hours…

Well, so far this morning it’s slightly less doomy, at least on a “how many new terrible headlines are out right now, and how bad are they” level. Then again, I suppose at least some of us are getting acclimated to the level of doom going around the last few weeks and maybe we’re just getting used to the ‘new normal.’ Anyway, without further ado, let’s get to the doom of the day!

Domestic Doomlines

• US is confirming 159 cases of WuFlu as of this writing – this number will be outdated by this afternoon
• US AID Director says this is the tip of the iceberg, is only a fraction of the cases, and hospitals are not prepared to deal with what’s coming
• New Jersey announces it’s first confirmed infection, man in his 30s, with one more suspected – very little information available about this case at this time
• Tennessee announces it’s first confirmed infection, man in his 40s
• Trump suggests it’s ok to go to work if you’re infected with SARS-CoV2 – and yes, I voted Trump and will do so again this year
• New York infections total 13 – this number will seem like a joke in the next few days
• That Manhattan attorney we mentioned yesterday? He’s infected at least *9* other people at this point before being hospitalized
• Two most recent cases in New York are community spread with no link to previous infections such as the Manhattan attorney
• For those of you paying attention, the initial known infection in New York was from Iran, so the “bad version” they have there is what we now have here, at least in NY
• California declares a state of emergency, not just a public health emergency, after announcing its first death
• Florida declares a state of emergency, joining Washington and California
• Concierge doctors, yachts, private chartered aircraft, and germ free hideaways are in order – if you’re rich anyway
• You know those people pointlessly checking temperatures at the airport? You don’t want to be one of them - Screener at LAX confirmed infected
• VA announces first veteran Kung Flu infection at Palo Alto VA hospital
• We mentioned an Amazon worker in Seattle being infected yesterday – today Amazon tells all Seattle employees to work from home
• Florida health officials say the state will refuse to follow national guidelines on testing – there is no testing capacity to deal with this disease
• California’s first death brings total confirmed dead in the US to 11 – sadly this number will be headed north, and we’ve certainly missed some deaths already such as the posthumous positive in Washington

Update: NY is now reporting an additional 9 cases for a total of 22 - no info yet on community spread vs known contacts, etc. Assume US total of 168 at this time.

Update: Nevada announces first case - man in his 50s identified by VA hospital there

Update: NY cases are changing too fast to keep up with accurately right now. Will include a new number in tomorrow mornings snapshot.

International Doomline

• Italy orders closure of all schools and universities nationwide with PM Conte saying healthcare systems there risk overload if spread continues
• Airline bookings to Europe down nearly 80% - I’d say that’s probably a good call
• British airline Flybe collapses due to drop in demand leaving passengers stranded
• India blocks export of 25 APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredient) due to shortages – this is the doomiest headline of the day believe it or not. For a better understanding of why, read the article and check out Martenson’s recent video that discusses this issue

Bonus Doomline

• I’ve seen some people ask what the symptoms are, what the experience is like, etc. so I’m including this. This man describes his experience as “being hit by a train” and that he had “never been that sick in his entire life.” Now, that may or may not be anyone else’s experience, but it certainly was for this man: [link to in.news.yahoo.com (secure)]

That's what worries me. We live in L.A. and were here during the riots in 1992. It went from normal to crazy in about 2 days. By the end we had a strict curfew and the National Guard was monitoring all activity. We had National Guard posted with guns just a couple of blocks from our house. All malls and banks and stores were closed for days.

Who knows what is going on with this virus. I certainly don't.
Here's what I do know though:

People will "self-quarantine" or be forced-quarantined and travel will be shutdown.

No more traveling across the oceans, no more traveling across the country and eventually, no more traveling across the city/town.

Here is a good site for the statistics:

[link to gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com (secure)]

So the death rate is about 3.4%

Usually in a pandemic about 2/3 of population get infected.

So we can expect about 150 - 200 millions of deaths worldwide.

In the USA about 7-8 millions
 Quoting: Jolly Jumper

Wuhan overwhelmed the weak socialist hospitals as thousands of infected people flooded them. After a short period of time Victims spread the disease to the medical staff of those hospitals. Fear and desperation takes over the mind when you face death. It only adds to the potential outcome of death. I'm sure that added to the high mortality rate in Wuhan.

America is a completely different beast.
 Quoting: Chip

Which does not in any way ensure that there will be a fundamentally different outcome. As any wounded or ill beast, we will respond according to our nature.

Re: COVID-19 DAILY HEADLINES - Falling behind? THE MAJOR KUNG FLU UPDATES ARE HERE EVERY DAY
Several people have asked me to start my own thread with these daily headline snapshot style updates as they find them helpful and they also get lost in the Main Kung Flu Doom thread almost immediately. Now that I have a paid membership, I’ll be able to moderate this thread and delete out useless crap, spam, and shills.

I have been putting together a quick rundown of daily events for a friend of mine who doesn’t have time to keep up with the rapid development of events surrounding the SARS-CoV-2, aka COVID-19 pandemic. I started simply cross posting my email to them into the main thread now and again, but enough people seemed to find them helpful enough it has motivated me to continue sharing them.

In case you haven’t seen any of these posts in the main thread, I always include a disclaimer that I find Twitter, and all social media for that matter, too unreliable to use as the sole source of any piece of information, and I always include links to wherever I pulled the headline from in case you want to read the entire article yourself. I also sometimes include a small comment on a headline as well that was my takeaway – yours may or may not be very different.

Here is the rundown from yesterday in case you missed it. Since I'm recopying my post from the other thread I'm not including the related links. Go to pg 3454 of the main thread if you need/want them:

------------------------------------------

So, as I’m sure you can tell, the theme of the day is the “sudden” increase in the spread of the disease all over the world as well as additional noise about financial markets and economic doom. Numbers are up everywhere, from cases in infected countries to new countries being added to the list. South Korea and Japan seem to be at the front of the pack outside of China, and that WHO hasn’t labeled this a pandemic yet serves to show just how much of a joke both they and CDC are. At any rate, trying to keep up with exact numbers in every country requires it’s own list and changes by the hour. Just suffice it to say it’s spreading like wildfire all over the world. Outside of officially worthless numbers, here are some of today’s headlines:

• China changes the definition of a confirmed case for the third time in barely a week – make up your own mind as to “why”
• COVID-19 has infected Chinese prisons and is spreading rapidly to both inmates and guards – further risk of societal collapse is the takeaway here
• World markets taking a hit, including the “immune” US DJIA
• Riots in Ukraine over arrival of evacuees from China, even though many are Ukrainian citizens – obviously not here, but we’re beginning to see violence in the streets directly related to the pandemic
• Xi Jinping explicitly warns that the outbreak in China itself has still not peaked
• Virus has begun infecting law enforcement in Hong Kong – further risk of societal collapse here
• Moscow deploys facial recognition to enforce ban on Chinese being out and about as well as enforce quarantine of those told to stay home – they still give no shits if anyone cries about “raaaayyyycisss”
• China rounding up and slaughtering pets to try to stop spread of the virus – some people think this has been debunked as false, but we’re seeing the opposite in terms of increased mainstream reporting. You decide.
• Chinese coronavirus patient recovers, is released from hospital, only to be re-infected just 10 days later. Word is that round two is always way worse than the first.
• 7000+ Americans now ‘self-quarantined’ at home across the US. Exactly who is keeping tabs on all these people? You can probably answer that on your own.
 Quoting: Pisces225

TY OP,

My Take on all this, we CAN'T WAIT FOR THE GOVERNMENTS, our only silver bullet would have to be done in small locals, like one neighborhood block, helping each other, kids, pets, I know like 3 people on street, but if help doesn't arrive, we should have everyone sign up to be caretakers of our back yards. Small groups to give everyone a helping hand. Thanks for listening

Re: COVID-19 DAILY HEADLINES - Falling behind? THE MAJOR KUNG FLU UPDATES ARE HERE EVERY DAY
And a very good morning to you and happy Friday my fellow GLPers! I hope you’re virus free and in the mood for some doom today. Headlines are kind of mixed, half of what’s out there is just completely a joke, and a lot of the rest is sort of ‘more of the same’. More cases, more financial doom, and an ever increasing shift towards disruption of daily life. Thankfully that disruption is still fairly low right now, but I feel like those days are going to be very short lived. Before posting, I decided to include some commentary on something that had to have more than a one liner. Short of something like a sudden declaration of full martial law announced by the President, it is hands down some of the doomiest shit you will read all day here, I guarantee.

The list of headlines is fairly lengthy this morning, so break out some A1 for this doomburger and let’s get this doom wagon rolling!

Domestic Doomlines

• President Trump signs $8 billion emergency funding bill to deal with WuFlu
• Colorado announces first two cases yesterday
• Maryland announces first three cases last night
• Tennessee announces first case yesterday – this guy was certainly infected while in Boston
• Pennsylvania announces first two cases today
• Seven Sunnyvale police officers under quarantine after exposure to Kung Flu patient from Corona Princess cruise ship who later died – they gave him CPR! That should pretty much say it all right there, end of story.
• In more financial doom, coronavirus has already wiped $9 Trillion off stocks and we’re still trying to find the bottom
• First confirmed Kung Flu inside the walls of the Vatican, they refuse to give any information whatsoever about who it is – still think the Pope has “just a cold”?
• Royal Caribbean taking temperature of passengers before setting sail – this has to be a “feel good” measure in an attempt to save their business; no one can still think this is even remotely effective at identifying the infected. Absurd story #1
• Ohio ‘monitoring’ 255 people for Kung Flu – we’ve already talked about what this means: absolutely jack shit. This amounts to “we think you might have Kung Flu, give us a ring if you get sick in the next while” Absurd story #2
• Wondering why the math shows a higher CFR rate in the US? Because by the time we even started testing we have people dropping dead. The number will come down as we test more. Here’s an article on this, but you should have figured this out on your own.
• Trump cancels CDC visit saying he doesn’t want to interrupt their work – what, their work in refusing to test people to make sure this spreads as widely as possible?
• Telemedicine in high demand amid coronavirus concerns – ya think? This will obviously continue to increase as we move along the timeline here.
• Walmart joins the growing list of companies announcing travel restrictions – I would as soon get on a cruise ship as an airplane right now

International Doomlines

• Worldwide “official” cases pass 100,000 – we all know we need to add probably two zeros to this number
• Seems like the ‘bog roll’ shortage is more of an issue in the UK and Australia, at least for now – this woman spent $3,260 on two pallets of TP, albeit accidentally; short funny read
• Two British Airways employees test positive for bat AIDS and BA endangers the public by refusing to say if they were flight crew or not due to concern over their stock price – money over people folks, never forget it
• Infected New Zealand man knowingly exposes thousands of people by attending Tool concert – how many more of these stories do we need before we call bullshit on people “self quarantining” or “being monitored”?!
• Excluding Wuhan, China claims zero new cases in entire Hubei province – does anyone anywhere on the planet actually believe this? Absurd story #3

Update: This story says that the two infected BA employees are baggage handlers

Today’s Official Doomburger

This deserves more than a one liner, you need to watch this video. More than 80 RNs are under medical quarantine at a California hospital. They were directly exposed to SARS-CoV2, are now sick themselves due almost certainly to being infected, the physicians caring for them have made multiple requests for them to be tested, and the CDC inexplicably refuses. This is the sort of thing I see that makes me say they actually want this to spread and are deliberately and intentionally doing things to make that happen. There simply is no other plausible explanation for this sort of thing. What’s worse is that a letter from one of the nurses details how they knew the patient they were going to care for was positive for coronavirus before they ever started to treat them. Kudos to them for being on the front lines of this thing, but this is another frightening example of how insanely infectious this shit is. The nurse says they went in with all the recommended PPE and training to use it properly, and were infected anyway. There’s an additionally disturbing detail revealed about the mindset of even health care professionals. The nurse reports, and reasonably so, that they stepped into the line of fire “assuming that if something happened to me, of course I would be cared for”. That’s a big negative. Do not, and I repeat, do not expect the government to help you, especially once this really gets rolling. The only people who might help you if you get sick are these doctors and nurses, and that’s if there are A) enough of them to go around, B) enough resources for them to treat you with such as drugs and equipment, and C) if they aren’t getting infected and dying like crazy like we saw in China. Anyone still saying anything close to “this is no worse than the flu” is lying, and should be criminally charged and jailed for the damage and death they are potentially causing. Please be careful out there folks. This really is doom and we really are on our own to face it, just like we always knew we would be. Watch this and cringe: [link to www.msnbc.com (secure)]

WASHOE COUNTY (FOX5)-- The Washoe County Health District has confirmed one "presumptive positive case" of the coronavirus.

A man is his 50's tested positive for the virus after being linked to the Grand Princess cruise ship outbreak. The man is self-isolating at home.

A family member who attends Huffaker Elementary School in Reno, NV is also being linked to the coronavirus case. Out of caution, the elementary school will be closed Friday, per the Washoe County Health District.

Test results are considered “presumptive positive” until the result is confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The patient is a male in his 50s who is hospitalized and currently in airborne isolation.

The patient reported a recent travel history to Washington state, where community spread of the virus is being reported, and Texas, which recently reported its first travel-associated case. Canadian man with COVID-19 traveled to Las Vegas
[link to www.8newsnow.com (secure)]

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The most recent case of COVID-19 in a Canadian city involves a man who traveled to Las Vegas in Feburary before he was tested.

According to the Canadian Ministry of Health, the man, who is in his 40s, was one of two cases identified in Toronto. He was in Las Vegas for an international conference and left the city to head back to Toronto on Feb. 28. He went to a hospital emergency room on March 3.

So did he get coronavirus here or was sick and potentially passed it around here? Did he get it on the plane/airports?

Re: COVID-19 DAILY HEADLINES - Falling behind? THE MAJOR KUNG FLU UPDATES ARE HERE EVERY DAY
For those of you who have been following this thread, I can't keep it up anymore. Too much is happening too fast now. My wife is directly on the front lines of this in the metro Atlanta area, and we have very little, if any, time left to prepare. I was busy with work all day yesterday (not related to any of this), and today everything at her work is starting to revolve around what's happening in this area related to the virus. From now on I'll be posting personal intel on this thread that's focused on my local area: Thread: First Hand - If it is here, it's everywhere...

But that's it. As this has come closer to home the size of the circle of what I give a shit about has shrunk, and it has done so very quickly. I no longer give a shit what's happening in Poland, and I honestly can't be concerned with what's happening across the country in California or Washington. This is here now in Georgia, and because of my wife I have much more information than has hit the news yet. It will probably be another couple of days before what we're hearing is written about in a news article, but we know about it already and have to proceed accordingly.

Please people, take whatever time you think you have and reduce it by 90%. This is already worse than the regular person can perceive by reading news headlines. If you don't have a direct connection to what's happening in your local area from the people directly involved those headlines are all you have to go on, but please believe me when I say it's already much worse than the headlines give a sense of.

No further headline snapshots will be posted to this thread. I did the best I could with the time I had.
Pisces
