How are they gonna quarantine people that will default on their mortgage or debt if they dont work? The police have to go and evict people and the courts have to do business so people pay rent. I believe they will start by making all of the people who can work from home stay home. That way a significant number of people will be removed from the daily commute, office environments and minimize a large amount of people from several other methods of infection.

I think they will. The quarantines will start in places like CA and NY. Then spread throughout the nation.

Our states are so spread out that it will travel from one place to the next....faster than it did in China. Look at a map of China and see how it went from Wuhan to other parts of the nation, and then neighboring nations. Japan is right off their coast.

Italy is a ways away, and just got hit recently.

I work in a large warehouse that takes in freight from all over that is then shipped to people all over the world and is owned by a certain Bezos. In the last couple weeks, there has been a significant shift in how much freight is coming in. Hardly any trailers to unload, much less employees, lower overall numbers for the day, etc. During a meeting, the manager said that it was because of the coronavirus and we would all just have to adapt to the new normal. Most of the boxes that came in would say Made In China and it wasn't unusual to have hundreds and hundreds of pallets of nothing but Chinese goods. This has pretty much stopped now and it has only just begun. It is hitting in real time folks!

A quarantine would be done to STOP the spread. Who said the want to stop the spread?

All they have to do is cut off the gas supply or ration it with approval and nobody’s going anywhere. Most people have less than a half of tank of gas in their car and live paycheck to paycheck

A nationwide quarantine is impossible.
Even a citywide quarantine (large city) is almost impossible.

The smart thing to do would be to install a curfew instead, travel restrictions, event cancellations, and gasoline rationing.
And round up the homeless.


But really doubt even that will happen, especially in liberal metropolitans.

I agree with all of it. My idea about letting people who can work from home do so full time. That alone would take 1000s of cars off the road and eliminate millions of opportunities for the virus to spread.

Well, Yes. It will be self quarantined, so as not to interact with others and chance getting sick. (at least the preppers will)
