Re: Perimeter Security Detection Discussion ( how to detect unexpected guests)
The only drawback on the infrared ones is animal activation.

We have a lot of deer and they will often set it off. If it becomes the zombie apocalypse out there, a few false alarms is a small consequence to knowing it is detecting things.

Also, the one I've had for 5 years uses a 9 volt batter and I change it twice a year. That's not bad considering it gets triggered a dozen times a day with the wife and kids driving in and out.

Re: Perimeter Security Detection Discussion ( how to detect unexpected guests)
I live in a rural area and have a long driveway. For 5 year's I've had a reliable driveway alarm to alert me when someone is approaching. I tried a few different ones and finally landed on this one. It supports an unlimited number of transmitters, but they can only be programmed to 4 different zones/chimes.
[link to www.absoluteautomation.com (secure)]

I just ordered 3 more transmitters, so I can place them around the perimeter of my property. They claim a 1/2 mile range, but the furthest I've tried is 1/4 mile.

I don't want to get into any details about other preps or plans on what to do when an intruder is detected, I just want to focus on detection because if this goes the way I think it will, there will be herds of people fleeing big cities and into country areas like where I live.

I wanted to start a thread to discuss the importance of utilizing technology to give you an advanced warning that someone is approaching.

Please share your thoughts and experience. This is meant for everyone to learn from and hopefully better protect their families.

Kamala Harris is not a Natural Born Citizen. She's illegally running.

Used by the Founders...
Book I of The Law of Nations, Chapter XIX, § 212 (Joseph Chitty numbering) – “Citizens and natives”
reads: 'The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to
its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in
the country, of parents who are citizens. As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by
the children of the citizens
, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all
their rights.' 1758 Emerich de Vattel

Oh' What the Hell, do I look like I want to die in some nursing home one day...
America must have 4 new Constitutional Amendments...
1. Drug Tests and Mental Evaluations on all politicians and judges randomly five times per year.
2. Term Limits for Federal politicians and judges.
3. Mental and health standards for Supreme Court Justices and retirement age set.
4. A 'Star Chamber' of elected Natural Born Citizens (no attorney's) to ivestigate, try, and prosecute the politicians and government employee's as they see fit.

Mandatory death penalty by public hanging is the merciful sentence for pedos and their associates.

I have a Dakota alert I am actually setting up this week. I will let you know how it goes (4 sensors that transmitt to a MURS band radio with zones)

Also, you can occasionally find pin-style keychain alarms (the pin is pulled, the alarm goes off). Basically just hook one of these up to some fishing line, and you have a trip alarm.

Also, occasionally you find the old style mechanical flash cubes. Same as above, you can attach a fishing line to give you a night-time alert.

Also, there are the light bulb motion sensor alarms such as this:

Yes, that's a very good application. The receiver in my home is plugged into the wall, but it will also operate on batteries.

MURS = Baofeng ?

I tried tuning one of my Baofengs to the frequency ( I think 413mhz), but all I get is clicking when the detector is triggered.

I would love to know how to make Baofengs work with my Dakota transmitters.

Suppressed bolt action 22lr will make nice meal out of your dog.

you need fish line and bunch of empty cans. use different type of metal or side for each perimeter that way you will know what side is tripped. OR if you're creative you can get 12ga buckshot shells attached to modified mouse traps to make mini mines...

if youre stupid just buy few spools of barbwire and fence up.

I have a driveway alarm, and it is only set off by a car to other large metal object. Our German Shepherds will alert us to the driveway alarm, or any other noise they hear. Then my wife and I take over. Our doors are locked, but could probably be kick in. By then we are set up in the dark, and Mr. & Mrs. Mossberg will do the rest. Plus we don't have shit to steal. We are very rural.

I have actually considered barbwire or electric horse fence around the entire perimeter except trails and the driveway.
Most farmers up here have it for cattle or horses anyway.

We are on 10 acres and to do it correctly will be more expensive than other solutions

Dogs or a wired camara.

Honestly, if the SHTF, you need to post a patrol of at lest two people and run one or two outside the wire each night.

You need radios and protocols on when you report in and such.

Re: Perimeter Security Detection Discussion ( how to detect unexpected guests)
You might try a bluff.

Set up trip wires (fishing line) that lead to a bell of something.

You wouldn't hear the bell...but the intruder would...and he wouldn't know that you didn't hear it...He would just think he has lost the element of surprise.

Or you could set up trip wires that lead to a "pop up" (ice fishing tool where a flag goes up when a fish tugs on the line).

As long as you could see the flag from your house...that could work at quite a distance!

Save old bike tubes. Tape and or glue them to make a long air tight tube. Fill it up about half way and attach a bell.

The air pressure change from being stepped on can trigger an alarm mechanism.

God bless and keep you.

The absolute best solution to your problem is this:

It NEVER false alarms, it NEVER fails. For best range (you'll quadruple or 10X the range, use a mirror as your reflective surface. That requires alignment but it works phenomonal.

Also, some of these have a normally closed/open option. If it has that, find out which side is closed when it is picking up the sensor and have it trip when the other side closes. That way if the sensor loses power you'll know instantly. This type of sensor won't simply go dead without warning if it is set up right, the moment there's a problem you'll get an alarm.

I have a great pyr mix that weighs about 200lbs. I took the Clippers and "shaved" him somewhat to make him look like a lion. Then I made some stencils and dyed some orange and black tiger stipes on him. Now he looks like one hell of a killing machine, but at just 9 months old, Buddy would lick you to death before he would bite you!
One good thing since getting him, a few naggers that used to cut across my property instead of walking around the swamp have quit walking down my dirt road.
Buddy had gotten big enough now he can leap the chainlink fence and a few weeks ago the last Nagger all most made it down my dirt road to the blacktop when Buddy jumped the fence to go lick him.
That Nagger took off like his ass was on fire and his head was catching! While trying to out run Buddy, he tried running across the black top and got hit by a car! The car broke both his legs when it hit him. Bet he won't betrespassing across my place anytime soon.
