"At page 333 it is described that around 2020 in a lab outside the Chinese city of Wuhan a man-made microorganism (named Wuhan-400) was created. It can affects only humans with a pneumonia-like disease."

Interesting note there as well,

"It seems that in the 1981 original version the microorganism’s name was Gorki-400. Only later in 1989 the name was turned to Wuhan-400 As reported by the South China Morning Post in 1989."


So.... my question, WHO changed the name of the virus in 1989 and WHY?

Because the Cold War ended and the Ruskies were not seen as the Bad Guys anymore.

What was kinda creepy is the authors short forward about this work having been penned under an alias has now been re-written, made better, like he is doing to all of his earlier works.

He calls it, "The hundred-year plan."


With exactly just the text, hundred-year in italics.


He was born in 1945. He doesn't have a hundred years, you'd think...

Last week everyone was crediting this to Sylvia Brown! WTF is it, Brown, Koontz, or just BS?

This was in the original book, under the name Nicholas. Koontz then started his self proclaimed "hundred-year plan"...

Double-eagle-eyed readers found early editions of the book that referred to the virus as Gorki-400, a bio-weapon developed by the Russians in Gorki. In fact, it almost seems like the publisher did a find/replace of Gorki/Wuhan after the Cold War ended because that’s about the time the change appeared.
