Several times those smart kids would come into the post office with an envelope and ask, "Where does the return address go and how do I address this envelope, and where does the stamp go?". These kids are not dumb, they just haven't been taught how to utilize outdated technology. I even doubt they know how to use a pencil. It is a sign of our times. I can write a letter and send it off, yet try to put a phone number into my cell phone, and I am lost. |

Teachers TEACH by any method possible. I was a teacher and a very good one but I got my kids to INTERACT with their peers and their environment, I made it FUN, I got SPONTANEOUS and CREATIVE. Especially the kids you are describing need to do things OUTSIDE or DANCE and SING it! But most of all they need to know you LOVE and CARE about them! I think it was very BRAVE of that girl to write that note and I hope your wife takes the feedback seriously! |

It is easy for adults to speak over the heads of their students. There are plenty of Bright/Super Bright kids, but many don't have a clue about most things. It takes real talent TODAY to really teach the average kid... our society has dumbed itself down in many ways. Most of us have a gift in one or two areas, but it might not be academics. There is great need in the world for all kinds of hard working eager people whether they are great academics or just good workers. btw- I worked for a person for a while that signed his name with and X … and he has more legally earned money than I will see with a college degree !
