We have a different opinion on this situation - to me, it looks like this genuinely came out of left field and the world leaders are caught pretty much clueless about what to with a dire threat. But opinions on this topic are widely varied for good reason. It'd be nice to have an intelligent discussion with someone who holds different beliefs without everyone going to the extreme all the time.

Flu is wide spread and kills 1 out of every 1950 people that catch it, hundreds of millions catch it every year since it is everywhere so many die.

Coronavirus is not wide spread, currently .000001 of the worlds population has caught it and it is known to be much more contagious then the regular flu. This virus currently kills 1 out of every 33 people who catch it and this number will dramatically go up once it is at a pandemic stage where hundreds of millions of people have it and there is not enough ventilators or oxygen machines to go around. You can likely expect the mortality rate to be closer to 1 out of every 15 in third world nations if this gets spread globally.

It definitely kills but only Asians so far and not as high
