Just took puppy in for first shots- my vet said corona virus shot would be included?

Go to a different vet. Get only the shots required by law, such as rabies.

Which is why they gave the human virus in china a more specific name of SARS-CoV-2

Let me guess - the vet is a girl who looks like she just got out of vet school, right? (or maybe like she just got out of high school?} And you went to a bigger vet clinic with multiple vets?

Instead go to a small vet clinic with only one vet, preferably an older vet. Tell him you want the minimum of shots for the dog. And get better advice from an old vet who knows his shit better than your current vet (con artist worthless vet).

I think he may have had that on his mind and meant something else, because there is no vaccine for people or dogs out there.

In Illinois here, husband a DVM. He said his clinic used to vaccinate for corona but stopped 10 or 15 yrs ago. If the pup caught both corona and parvo at the same time it made the parvo worse so they stopped. Rabies vac is always given at 16 wks, not sooner. The corona vac may be used more in CA I don't know.

Yeah, probably. Cats get a coronavirus that is not the Chinese bio weapon. However, the younger vet that OP goes to, is trained to give all animals the maximum amount of vaccines, just to make money. The more shots they give, the more money they make.

Just insist on the legal minimum, which is usually rabies. And maybe a clean Parvo shot. Just the least, the very basics.

Yeah, she was talking about a different Corona Virus, that is more common that the bio weapon we are dealing wtih globally.
She may be sweet and nice, but she is selling you a bill of goods that you don't need, and that may harm your dog. Dump this idiotic vet.
She is probably saying "the protection of the vaccines don't kick in until April, so keep the dog out of public."
