So much for the fabled Turkish army, Putin has just showed Europe that Edogan is a paper tiger, if the west thinks the people will back turkey over Russia then they are in for a major surprise.

Why? If anything I would help Syria into regaining it's country back in totality, that way the Syrians could return home. I'd also fund the kurds.

That aint going to work . As i understand it , only if a NATO country is attacked directly .
Having your troops attacked in another country because you decide to get involved in a foreign war is not a valid reason for NATO to come to Turkeys aid ...

Collective defence means that an attack against one Ally is considered as an attack against all Allies.
The principle of collective defence is enshrined in Article 5 of the Washington Treaty.
NATO invoked Article 5 for the first time in its history after the 9/11 terrorist attacks against the United States.
NATO has taken collective defence measures on several occasions, for instance in response to the situation in Syria and in the wake of the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
NATO has standing forces on active duty that contribute to the Alliance’s collective defence efforts on a permanent basis.

NATO convenes urgent session as Turkey calls for no-fly zone over northern Syria after airstrikes kill 33 Turkish troops

Ambassadors from all 29 NATO nations met in emergency session in Brussels this morning, after Turkey invoked Article 4 of the alliance treaty. “Under Article 4 of the Treaty, any ally can request consultations whenever, in the opinion of any of them, their territorial integrity, political independence or security is threatened,” NATO said in a statement.

Turkey is calling on world powers to impose a no-fly zone over northern Syria after regime airstrikes in the Idlib region killed 33 Turkish troops Thursday, and worsened a humanitarian crisis that has displaced hundreds of thousands of people. It’s the highest death toll for Turkish forces since they first moved into Syria in 2016.

Turkey has been trying to block the Russian-backed Syrian government offensive which is aimed at capturing the last major rebel stronghold. The brutal military campaign has targeted hospitals and schools, and has worsened the misery of thousands of civilians fleeing the fighting.

NO-FLY, NO GO: When NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg emerged from the meeting shortly after 6 a.m. Washington time, he made no mention of any no-fly zone, but said the NATO allies expressed their “full solidarity” and condemned “the continued indiscriminate airstrikes by the Syrian regime and Russia in Idlib province.”

RUSSIA DENIES ROLE: The Russian Defence Ministry claimed Turkish troops were hit by artillery fire, not airstrikes, and said the Turkish forces were collocated with rebel fighters and “shouldn’t have been there.”

The Russian news agency RIA said Turkey had failed to notify Moscow of the presence of Turkish troops in the area despite being in regular communication with the Russian military.

because they have great strategic, geographical location, close to Russia, warm waters, energy crossroad, USA has its defensive shield there, nukes directed at East etc.

As a member of NATO during the Cold War it was a geopolitical asset to the Western bloc as a strong ally in close proximity to the Soviet Union. With the fall of the Warsaw Pact, this consideration disappeared. However, Turkey has regained its geopolitical importance for other reasons. One of these is its location between large energy markets and major energy producers. Though it lacks its own significant mineral reserves,1 it has strategic advantages for energy transit as it lies between the Middle East, Russia and the Caucasus and the large energy markets of Europe and the West.

Turkey has second largest army in the NATO pact behind USA, Turkey doesn't own or poses any nuclear warheads, but it stores USA's nuclear arsenal at the Incirlik base
