Again, the entire trade could receive a mortal blow, both the giver and givee, if this flu hits the weak targets and infirm, as we are being told.

Stupid analogy, we are 1 week into community transmissions in Washington.

Some of these people in nursing homes are pitiful. I worked in one many years ago. Part time. They have no idea what's going on and look like skeletons. They're weak.

I just had a routine appointment at a clinic last week. A couple, who entered the elevator, was wheeling a woman in a wheelchair who was screaming. Emaciated. They said she was 91, and was recovering from a broken hip. God bless them for caring for her at their home. She was the man's mother. They refused to put her in a nursing home.

How many of the six are from the infected nursing home? What a nightmare for those folks residing there, family and care givers!

Believe me, most patients in nursing homes have no idea what is going on, no idea where they are. They are existing. The families are no longer the caregivers. The medical personnel are.

Yes, I know very well the very sad situation in nursing homes, aside from being the family caregiver most of my life I also worked professionally with the elderly for a a number of years. Horrible, sad places!

We live up here on Whidbey Is WA.....this is the email that we received last night.....Also, on the news this morning there wete like 7 schools closed.


This evening, we learned a North Whidbey Middle School staff member’s spouse was a first responder at last week’s COVID-19, Coronavirus outbreak at the Life Care Center in Kirkland. The first responder was notified this weekend that they would have to be quarantined in Kirkland with the other firefighters, despite displaying no symptoms of the virus.

We immediately shared this information with the Island County Public Health. Since the staff member had been in contact with their spouse prior to the quarantine, Public Health officials recommended that our staff member stay home for the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended 14 days. In addition, the staff member’s classroom has been sanitized. The staff member and spouse are not known to have the virus and do not display any symptoms. These measures are purely precautionary.

As a proactive measure, our schools are re-emphasizing with our students the importance of hand-washing. This is the best protection against disease transmission. The Department of Health also recommends that students cover their coughs and sneezes with a tissue and immediately wash or sanitize them after disposing of the tissue. Students should also avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth as much as possible. Please visit with your child to make sure they understand the importance of these practices.

In addition, each one of our classrooms have disinfecting supplies and staff are being instructed to use these throughout the day. Our custodial staff will be regularly sanitizing hard surfaces students routinely contact and taking other measures to keep our schools clean.

Island County Public Health recommends that if children, staff or volunteers display any signs of being sick, they do not come to school until their symptoms subside for at least 24 hours. Thank you in advance for following these recommendations. As always, if you have any concerns about your child’s or your own health, please consult your primary health provider.

We are in regular communication with Island County Public Health and will continue to monitor the situation. We urge you to reference the following materials for the most accurate and current information about the virus and what you can do to protect yourself and your family:

In fact the chance of you choking on dinner while watching the horrific COVID-19 news - is greater. There are roughly 15,000 choking deaths per year - or about 14 PER DAY!!!!!

Why don't they get proactive?

Every year close to 50,000 people die from the Flu. The fact that everyone is running around with their hair on fire over 6 deaths is unbelievable.

Also, the news is hiding the ages of these people. When you get to be about 70 or 80, people die from flu, pneumonia, bronchitis, falling, heart attacks, I mean, old people die from lots of things.

Everyone needs to chill out at least for now at 6 deaths. Get back to me when Coronia virus deaths are "beating" the regular flu deaths.

None of the dead will have any names. There will be no interviews with family members. All of the dead will be in liberal areas.
