Re: Has anyone ever experienced the "Hat Man"? A Dark Shadowy Image of a Man who Appears while you sleep?
Sleep paralysis.

Learn to fight it and it will become lucid dreaming.

You have to stay unafraid though or you will wake up and never get to the lucid part.
 Quoting: BFD

Sleep paralysis is different.

Lucid dreaming is realizing you are dreaming and you can control or alter the dreams.

Sleep paralysis is actually being awake. Can't move and you are afraid. Only lasts for a sec or 2-3.

The hat man is demonic and a harbinger of bad things to come. My child seen it once when she was about 6. I walked into her room and she was frozen with fear, looking at the floor, talking to something invisible. She told me it was a man with no face, wearing a hat and long coat.

You guys do know that the syndrome is called “old hag syndrome” generally caused by waking up during sleep paralysis, you are in fear because you can’t move and your mind sees shapes or shadows that could be a person or figure lurking or nothing at all and just senses it in total fear because you can’t move because you are in either predormital or hypnopompic and while your eyes are open your body is still turned off and obviously this is frightening. Usually happens to children not as often with adults. I had a few experiences as a kid with this

What about being awake and standing. And experience it at the same time with another person next to you?

These things are real and really do exist. Unfortunately science thinks to be able to explain everything, labeling people as crazy or I don't know what.

Re: Has anyone ever experienced the "Hat Man"? A Dark Shadowy Image of a Man who Appears while you sleep?
I have seen and continue to see “Hat man”, however, I am always fully awake. I have been seeing him since I can remember. It was until about 15 or so years ago I noticed something....
I can remember 3 times 100% that when I would see him something in my life was about to go wrong and I would have a hard time with it.
For example. I was 7 years old and I saw him and at about 12:30 in the afternoon. A couple weeks later my parents told me they were getting divorced. The second time I saw him it was around 7pm in the evening... a couple weeks later I was kicked out of the place I was staying and ended of begging my father to let me back him only for him and my mom to send me to a private rehab (which was a blessing I suppose)
And finally I saw him at about 4pm 2017 in the middle of February. March 3 I had finally had enough and kicked my husband out and filed for divorce.
I’m not scared when I see him, although, knowing the pattern of what happens after I see him. I do get a seriously strong feeling of dread.
Thanks for reading

So where in time period did this Hat man come start? The infamous hat would be fairly new 1700s+.

Did some demonic entity say hey, I like this hat I think I’ll represent myself for all of eternity wearing it?

Re: Has anyone ever experienced the "Hat Man"? A Dark Shadowy Image of a Man who Appears while you sleep?
I've seen little shadow creatures at the foot of my bed trying to crawl up on top of me. They could stretch their arms really far and had little yellow slits for eyes and would disappear when I saw them or said Jesus's Name 3 times.
I've seen them more than once but not in the last 2 years thank God.
Yes they are real and I have seen pictures of them on several sites, drawings of the exact same things that total strangers have seen as well. So I ain't the only one.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73027889

What website so I can see what they look like?? Where can I see the pic ? Thanks

Bustle.com shadow creatures has a couple of images but you can pretty much Google images of red eyed shadow creatures/people and see them.

No, but my Uncle Charlie would always wake me up after everyone else fell to sleep and keep asking me if I wanted to play Night Crawlers with him. He wouldn’t stop until I’d get fed up and start calling out for my mom, which always made him run back to his room under the staircase.

it used to be in my dreams at night- caused sleep paralysis but since I mastered the art of lucid dreams- I haven’t seen it since I told it”I’m not afraid of you”. And just like that- gone.
He always wore a old tall top hat- never a fedora.

No hat man but when I was a child I saw what appeared to be a demon. No hat, but horns and spoke in a secret language, which I understood

Once as a child I wake from sleep and couldn't move and couldn't utter a scream for help. I noticed a dark figure at the end of the room.

As I tried to sit up I would simply kind of fall back almost to sleep almost like I was drugged.

The more I struggled to move the more intense the feeling would overcome me.

I simply fell asleep and woke up the next morning.

Yup experienced hat man before I even knew there was a thing called hat man.

Used to watch me from the doorway. Long black overcoat. Black hat.
Never was frightened but just creeped me out.

Saw him a lot.. mostly when I was on the computer.

Never seen the "Hat Man."

But, when I was a kid I saw little tiny people climbing my curtains. Some had helmets on like crew workers.

They were all over the place in my bedroom.

True story.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78121322

omg, me too and no one in my whole life has ever said this in my hearing before. They were on my covers, making me eat the covers, which I was doing in another dimension while I sat there motionless, staring. There are many reasons that I believe I was an mk ultra victim. Maybe you were, too. Did your adoptive mom give you weird green pills? Mine did.
As for hat man, I haven't seen him but when I worked in elderly care, a few of my clients were seeing shadow people. Hat man is of that ilk.
In elderly care, they call it "sundowners" when the dementia patients start seeing terrifying things after sun down. They stare, horrified, at the upper corners of the walls.
The industry says it is a neurological phenomenon, but every Christian elderly care worker knows better.
The ones who specifically saw shadow people lurking in the upper corners of the walls were Freemasons. From my observance, they are waiting for the person to die. ugh.

One time, we had a pastor from hospice who would visit, and I saw that he was the real thing. One visit, I told him that sometimes the client is speaking and it is not him speaking. The pastor understood. This client was a third degree Mason and he was also seeing something flitting about the upper corners. I asked him to describe what he was seeing. When he described flat black things I was shocked because I knew exactly what they were.
The pastor and I did prayers together and cast the thing out of the client that was inside of him. Of course no one from the family was home at the time or they would have been horrified by us acting like it was the dark ages.
It worked and that man got to leave clean, but his dementia was so profound that he was not able to witness to his very secular family. Funny how God will sweep in for just one person. I've seen that a few times in that work.

Re: Has anyone ever experienced the "Hat Man"? A Dark Shadowy Image of a Man who Appears while you sleep?
I saw it as a child, maybe 4 or 5. The memory haunted me for at least a decade until I brought it up to friends at a get together one night. My friend turned white and related a similar experience from his own childhood. After this I started to bring it up to people in conversations if I could fit it in without it being to awkward. I’ve found most people haven’t experienced “slender man” or “top hat guy” but over time I’ve met two other people who have, and they both expressed horror and trauma related to the experience. It comes to you, and just looks at you. You’re filled with terror the whole time and afterwards you're left in shock. I don’t know much more about it. It was a one time thing. My only take on it is that it must be real if we’ve all seen it. What’s odd is that we all see the same or very similar figure. Silhouette of a tall man with a top hat and trench coat just looking at you.

On occasion as a child I had seen him, maybe a half dozen times. Usually standing in the half open doorway to my bedroom visibly blocking the light but casting no shadow on the bed or floor. that ended around the age of 10. Although I do suffer from sleep paralysis which and as hard as i may try still scares me to death every time.

Saw the hat man once many years ago while living in my condo. Had lots of strange occurrences there actually, it the hat man freaked me out. I was getting ready to try and fall asleep when I got the feeling I was being watched. I opened my eyes and there was about a 6 foot jet black shadow of a man standing at the foot of my bed watching me. Looked like a silhouette. I could see the outline clearly. He wore a fedora style hat and what looked like a trench coat. No facial features or any detail of his outfit. It was straight black but sharply outlined. I slowly pulled the covers over my head and pretended it wasn’t there, even though I knew it was. I was frozen with fear, couldn’t think of anything else to do. Next thing I know I’m waking up and it’s morning. I’ll tell you right now, I wasn’t dreaming, I was fully awake when I saw it.
 Quoting: WG 78192814

this was similar to my experience (however, I don;t remember a hat or coat- just an outline of a person)... I was not scared though (I felt God's presence in the room too)

MY sleep paralysis never includes the "old hag" or figures of any type. I will feel myself lying there eyes closed hearing the noises around me... I can hear the TV, my wife speaking ect.... I try to open my eyes but cant, then realize I cant move my arms, legs, hands, fingers.... then usually the panic sets in I try to talk.. nothing.. try harder... try to scream out to my wife but nothing comes out but a faint whimper (or so my wife calls it). At first she thought i was having bad dreams but now knows the signs and will gently wake me out of it. by that point I usually have tears in my eyes, cold sweat, HR elevated ect....

I have experienced
Astro Spiders
Red Demon
Black Shadow Man , no hat
Little men with black faces and hoods
Vibrating Bed
My name being yelled
Tinkling music
Women dressed in white

My sleep was broken and stressed because of my ex, he drank a gallon of moonshine a day. Since I have been away from him in my own home I have not had one experience. It’s been almost a year and this stuff happened monthly. I was never paralyzed and I was never afraid but really angry they were interrrupting my sleep, they didn’t stick around long.
Ether it was happening because my sleep was broken and I couldn’t get in a deep sleep or they were my exes demons attacking me. My ex told me once he seen a shadow hovering over me, he was a drunk though so who knows but he did rember it when sober and never rembererd anything the next morning.
My son when he was young seen the hat man a lot, I looked it up and read of other peoples experience with the same thing. It’s creepy that it’s universal.
