First Hand - If it is here, it's everywhere...
Well GLP, I have been here many years. Before the great Super Bowl ban, before TTown, when Brief used to be nice and before FatalWishes passed and when we could talk about pie man. A long time...

My first real sincere post and it will be as anonymous as can be due to how I know what I know.

Spouse is at the hospital here in North GA. Nice hospital. Big name. Spouse is ICU - where the negative pressure rooms are. They are full now.

Just today - 11 cases..in nowhere North Georgia. From roomates of people who have travel history, from the sick who have travel history. All possible cases of CV. One with a cardiac episode and fever of unknown cause.

The sick have to be interviewed, if possible. Then they have to have tests done for flu A and flu B before any next steps. If they have symptoms and do not have flu A or flu B, it starts point to the CV. Even then, the CV test will not be done. It will be treated as a viral infection until symptoms worsen if travel history/community involvement is a possible reality. Yes, doctors in the ward are on with the actual CDC asking for patients to be tested and tests are being declined due to various reasons. This is real.

As of this moment, no details on test results, not that I or spouse will know. Of the 11, only 2 were "allowed" to be tested. Results in days. The others don't meet criteria for whatever reason right now.

To the naysayers and nothing burgers - have your comments, fine. Likely all will survive. On the 80/20 rule, only 1 or 2 will require advanced care.

My sincere bottom line is that if it is here, in nowhere Georgia - it is everywhere. Hope you are in the 80% with mild to no symptoms. Pray you are not in the 20% that require advanced care.

And the mask issues and shortages - that's real. My spouse - who may have to take care of you...is left with 1-2 per day. And then spouse gets to come home hoping for health...just maybe spouse dodged a bullet...for today.

Naysayers and nothing burgers - when it is on your front door and you have no idea if you have underlaying health conditions that may comprimse your recovery...see how nothing burger it is to you. Get off the people preparing for the unknown, because that is exactly what this is right now...unknown. Get off your high horse and know-it-all BS. Your fear is trying to emerge but you bury it with your taunting to those who take this serious. Enough. 20% of us have to take this serious.

My takeaway is this - honesty and transparency do not exist. Numbers are lies. Press conferences are lies. Your doctors and nurses are working for YOU. They will do their absolute best to take care of you knowing they are being left to their own devices and results. They will. They are not being supported by the system that touts a national interest in your well-being. They will take this sickness home. Their families may get ill. Most will likely survive. But their families know that their spouse/mom/dad/bro/sis are taking care of sick people and it is their passion.

Be well GLP friends. Support those who support you.

By the way - I was kidding - Brief has never been nice.

Will update if I can, but Twitter and other channels may know before spouse does.

Re: First Hand - If it is here, it's everywhere...
There are many rural hospitals in North GA and conversation among the trades was any patient with a positive CV test would be sent to ATL and major hospitals down south of here. Seems the rurals are realizing this won’t be the case and are preparing to handle locally given the difficulty in obtaining a positive test. Locals are coming to grips with caring for the sick without government funded agencies assisting....regardless of what governors, task forces and such say to the public.

Can’t treat CV if it doesn’t exists, right?

You know what....for years I never understood why ACs and such wouldn’t give details like hospital names and such until tonight. Now I get it.

There is a legitimate fear in revealing identifiable info when it can truly be identifiable. I get that now. Granted, there may be 80+ working in ICU and none my ever even see this...there is just necessary caution to be taken I guess.

I hope it doesn’t cast doubt on the info because it is genuine and factual.

North of Kennesaw. Way North. It’s not Kennestone, but I am willing to bet they are in the same boat. Just no contacts there.

Re: First Hand - If it is here, it's everywhere...
just listened the the English Dr. - John Campbell - he said that he thinks it is disgusting that USA patients must pay for their own CV test -- and if positive that they must also pay for their own quarantine --- and this this could be the cause of helping to spread, cuz not everyone has enough money for all that. I would think all that would be quite expensive.

If anyone knows different, please comment. Just passing what he said. He posts a new video each day.

Not sure where you are globally, but in the US, ANY patient MUST be treated with equal standard care regardless of their ability to pay. Yes, bills may come, but they will not be denied treatment.

I personally know some that have gone above and beyond to serve the sick who have refused treatment (antibiotics/other Rx) due to costs. Yes, it’s sad, but most healthcare professionals are exactly that....professionals....and do care!

Don't bother, OP.

Even those that call themselves "red-pilled" for whatever obscure insight they might've had, are massively normalcy biased and in denial on this one, as on many other very pertinent and real subject matters.

People don't want to hear the bad news because they're too much of cowards to face the facts when push comes to shove. I've seen countless testimonies about the first day of war in various nations in Europe during WW2 and it's always the same disbelief ad nauseam until the Germans were actually right in front of their face.

I remember this one account about the Belgian propaganda radio still telling people on air that the Germans were just past the border, when in fact they were already more than half-way inland driving down people's streets in Brussels.

This is more of the same. The pleb refuse to figure out that the stale news they're being fed is days old. It's pure disbelief, cognitive dissonance and intellectual dishonesty.

I’m in the same vicinity and the kids here have been insanely sick.

We homeschool, but schools were closing down due to flu outbreaks etc.
And friends who work in the district still say that attendance is way off still- kids still getting sick from all kinds of stuff.

I’ll be praying the two tested are negative. I have elderly neighbors whom I care deeply for, and for them I really am concerned.

Thank you for the heads up- and I won’t try and guess the hospital in question. Once there is one case, it’s just a giant spider web from there.

Thank you to your spouse and your family. I think it'll come to our communities helping with our hospitals as this becomes bigger than all of us. At this point maybe Americans need to set up a find to buy test that give accurate results from South Korea. Frustrating. We are all in this together.

People don’t need to freak out, but really need to understand the potential for MANY people being sick at once and life as they know it to be interrupted. Americans don’t like that too much.

How it isn’t being reported here in Colorado is beyond me. They arent even testing here, despite the presence of an airport with daily flights to Japan and Italy. Its just a matter of time, and then people will actually panic here.

My wife is a RN at Lexington medical hospital and has friends at baptist medical, and Richland memorial 3 big hospitals in Columbia sc and not one have reported anything about the virus. The nurses keep up with what is going on in these hospitals.
