I'm still pissed that we don't get full information.

How many tests are being done each day?
Results?
Any cases of false negatives or positives?
We're all the Wuhan (Trenton) 'Disaster Princess' (Cornwall) quarantine folk tested, retested ..or were they just monitored for symptoms?

The federal health minister melt saying that only close contact with symptomatic people spreads it.

Do they now acknowledge that it has some aerosolized characteristics, from some studies, and that there is asymptomatic spreading?

We're doing better than the US for the moment, but after yesterday's huge tick up, and community spread now in B.C., I expect we'll start seeing doubling every two days now.

Mainly from the apparently more virulent (and deadly) Iranian, Italian, Egyptian mutation.

Army said they expect 25 percent of ALL military to get sick.

I'm not technically a Canadian, but I did stay at a Tim Horton's last night...

Less than 2 weeks ago the incompetent health minister was telling us to stop being racists and go eat Chinese food to support the Chinese community. Then they said we had two cases. This week we went from 2 cases to 21 in BC with 8 new cases in one day. Meanwhile we still have multiple daily flights arriving direct from China every day, no protocols in place at the airport. Granddaughter went to emergency with flu symptoms because she was short of breath and asked for a mask. They didn't give her one and the drs weren't wearing them. They did nothing to try and isolate her from other patients. They didn't test her because she hadn't traveled to China. But she did travel to and from Mexico on a plane full of Chinese people. Even with new cases doubling yesterday from the ones reported the day before the incompetent provincial health minister says its ok, just wash your hands and it will be fine. They should have shut down flights from China in January, but that would have been racist. The time to stop this was weeks ago and all 3 levels of government did nothing. It's too late now. Criminal incompetence everywhere. There is no way we have just 21 cases. They are only testing people that traveled to China and Iran, and they only count people that have been tested in the official count. They are ignoring the fact that asymptomatic people can be infectious for up to 28 days and have been riding the trains and buses and elevators with the rest of us, going to the movies and shopping malls. This could get bad really quick.

I work in a travel related job. This week our regular work flow changed from servicing excited customers to fielding calls from freaked out people wanting to cancel their trips and having to tell them that since there is no emergency declared here the hotels won't refund their money if they cancel. That's why they don't want to declare a pandemic. It's all about the money. Tons of cancellations this week, people willing to walk away from thousands of dollars rather than travel.

Great information thanks! If anyone else in the Canadian travel industry could chime in
on the lack of bookings or customers wanting to cancel vacations.

My in-laws live in Calgary. My mother in law is so stubborn. I have tried to talk to her about the virus and she keeps saying " it’s no big deal , flu is deadlier, blah ,blah, blah". When I told her she had a presumptive positive in Calgary she argued that meant she didn’t get tested positive. I tried telling her she did but it wasn’t confirmed but she keeps saying "nah"

Yeah... the word Pandemic, like the proverbial Genie out of the bottle, once mentioned by the WHO can not be put back in.

The financial instruments tied to that word will bring the whole fiat/ponzi machine to its knees.

Yes, I’ve been following along, but there is so little info.

The presumptive positive Calgary woman returned from the cesspool of disease ship on Jan 21, but didn’t self quarantine until Jan 28. This is exactly why it will spread so far. Because people will “feel fine” and be out and about spreading it and then not bother to quarantine until they are showing more symptoms. She should have quarantined from the day she got home, but nope - didn’t bother!

That's the thing. People can be asymptomatic for 28 days, feeling great and all the while infecting other unsuspecting people wherever they go. It's impossible to track down everyone an infected person was in contact with for a month. That's the kind of news the bought and paid for CBC propaganda machine won't talk about. They're too busy trying to convince us that Justin is now a man capable of growing a beard, so we are in good hands. Criminal incompetence at all levels, sheep everywhere.

Just watch they will quarantine whole Canadian cities for the corona virus but authorities have done nothing to stop its spread to Canada in the first place saying it's racist to have travel bans and quarantines on infected foreigners and returning duel citizens. But hey it's ok to quarantine and take away Canadian citizens rights if they have the corona virus but not infected Chinese, Iranians etc rights.

This site reported 37 confirmed cases yesterday before I went to bed....shows 48 this morning...that's a fair jump given the timeframe...

It’s terrible . The Province didn’t ban school travels so they couldn’t claim insurance to recoup the costs . NS banned all school related trips outside of Canada the day the class left for Italy . NB is run by a bunch of useless bureaucrats concerned more about bilingualism rights than keeping NB residents safe .

Canada threads tend to fall off the bottom pretty quickly!

Here's a summary:

- there's been potential transmission in canada for several weeks, school boards in the Vancouver area warning parents their kids were possibly exposed at schools, people traveling across the country with it, etc.

- There's currently a case right in the middle of downtown vancouver near the Stadium, at the Vancouver General Hospital's ICU ward. I don't trust Vancouver now :D

VGH isn't downtown, it's on the west side. The hospital downtown is St Pauls. A college downtown has been shut down because a student tested positive. That student's room mate is under home isolation too. They are disinfecting the building, will be closed until next week. There is a critical case, a woman in her 80s that traveled to China and India in ICU at VGH. I haven't been downtown in a long time, I only go there when I have to, feels more like China than Canada, full of rude Chinese, garbage everywhere. This used to be a great city. Now you can't even see the mountains for the highrises full of Chinese "investors".

when this is all said and then, can we sue the federal government for the botched response too the virus?

I remember last summer the story of Chinese nationals being escorted out of the bio lab in Winnipeg. My thoughts at the time was WTF were Chinese nationals doing inside a military level bio lab. The story disappeared from the news after the initial report. I haven't been able to find out if those Chinese nationals were deported or charged. Funny how there is a bio lab in Wuhan where this whole thing started.
