Im actually in the UK. And my folks want to go on their holiday to Portugal.

They cant get a refund because of the criminally negligent policies of the governments and holiday companies etc.

What would you do in this situation? I feel like im ruining their holiday plans if i implore that they don't go.

Let them know your concerns. And then let the make up their own minds. They are adults and they could be just fine on the trip. We can’t just live in fear. They could pick up a virus that kills them at the supermarket at home. Staying home and being miserable can have a worse affect on our health.

Let them do what they want. If my kids try to stop me from doing what i want - i just call my lawyer, God Bless America.
I brought them in this world and i can take them out!

I would certainly try to stop them, but they are adults. I can't physically stop them, but I would surely vehemently advise against it.

Elderly is not 60. People are still able to do a lot in their 60s and 70s as long as they are in decent health. More like 80s is elderly.

I live in a neighborhood of seniors (not technically a retirement community, but there aren't a lot of high-paying jobs in the mountain, so it tends to be retirees living here). OMG, they are out cruising, flying to places such as the Mideast, flying all over the country to see their kids... All it will take is for one of these 80-year-old couples to come into contact and the entire section of the state will get it, too. Stupid people -- STAY AWAY FROM TRAVEL!

Doesn't help that Spring Break is starting and people are still going to travel for that.

Sigh!

After much conversation as to why they shouldn’t with them and they still want go let them go. Remember to tell them the rules can change at any point. Question is will they be aloud back. I wouldn’t let my mother go for sure.

I like the cdcs advice for over 60s. If we all could take a government demanded 2wk staycation and had a mental reset...

Imploring that they don't go is not the same as not letting them go.

1.) 60-70 with obvious ability to move and groove is not elderly.

2.) You have no right to "let" them do anything unless they are incompetent or living off of your dime (even them I'd say eat it)

3.) You need to stop living in fear.
Life is a spiritual war and no matter where we lay our head, we live in a warzone.

There will be casualties.

You do get to choose your side. I chose the Bright Side where my God fights for me.

Others chose the Dark Side and fight for an entity that views them with disdain and discards them.

Why do you think they are going to die if they go? Right now, millions of people are traveling all over the world, and believe me, they are having fun. People are still enjoying life. They should. Life is short! Why deny them of a wonderful trip to Portugal? More people die of heart attacks and strokes! Also, 35,000 die in the USA from vehicle accidents. Do you never get in a car?

In fact, I'm leaving my house now to take of a cat. A friend of mine just landed at her vacation spot after a 6 hour flight. She's off to a warmer climate for 7 days. I'm freezing here!

60 70 is not elderly these days, none of your business what they do, they know more about the world than you do.
