1977 was my best year. Smoked SO much weed, saw Pink Floyd in Concert in Tampa Stadium, BEST CONCERT I EVER SAW. I met most of my friends for life. First Girlfriend, first date, STAR WARS! Those were great days.

'77?

Re: I Miss 1978; I WANT IT BACK AGAIN, NOW!!!
Life from the late 1970's to the late 1990's was great. It was about '98 to '99 when everyone started getting the internet and globalism kicked in. By the mid 2000's, it was over. I will never forget that time period. Being born in '68, 78 was great. I got to live my teen years and 20's in the two greatest decades imo. I love the 80's and 90's. Just the right amount of technology to entertain, but still do outside stuff with your friends. No damn phones and internet everywhere. Life was great.

Me, too. Best year of my life.

Lot's of hanging around with friends, actually lot's of FRIENDS, girls, parties, freedom..no Smartphones, good music (until 2001), cheap prices.

Whatever happened to Nick Gilder?

He was great, summer of '78!

And Andrew Gold? Amazing talent. He wrote and performed on nearly all of Linda Ronstadt's hit songs, then he had his own enormous hit record with this song, in 1978 as well

Re: I Miss 1978; I WANT IT BACK AGAIN, NOW!!!
I was 14 years old, embarking on the PRIME of my life (which, thank GOD, I am still in) and, what can I say, it simply was one of THE BEST ERAS to be a young adult or adult!

I was an EXTREMELY PRECOCIOUS child, very much advanced for my age in both physical and mental growth. I was ALREADY getting served alcohol, in bars and liquor stores at age 12! Not that that's bad or good, it just was. I was already 5'11" tall then! I have friends who to this day still do not understand how I did it. Suffice it to say that I was a responsible kid as well and did not overindulge. I would buy beer for other, much older 18 year olds, since alcohol was restricted to 21 year olds in my state then, but not now.

I lived the dance era known as "the disco era," which as most of us healthy guys saw it as "a chance to score with chicks." That's why young men and old men alike braved the shaky social risk of actually wearing the correct garb, going to a disco-theque then, with one's girlfriend on their arm AND DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY.

It was a lot of fun.

I miss it.

Every generation misses it's heydey.

1978 was mine.

That's all.

Just about everyone misses their youth. I started hitting the clubs about the same age, about 45 years ago, as did most of my friends. I continue to do so, mostly in other parts of the world. At least until the virus hit. There is a lot of fun left to be had. Live it up!

I was in my twenties in 1978. It was not a good time. No jobs, not even in gas stations and quick stop marts. Interest rates were huge. We used to have to decide between gas for the junk car or groceries, and that was with two adults working full time jobs.

No thanks. We have lots of problems today but I would not go back in the 1970's for anything. You were a child and your parents covered your expenses. And you probably had good parents too.

I agree, I graduated HS in 76 and the work opportunities were fast food restaurants; i was a cook. The times were magical though, lots of dope everywhere, parties everywhere and things were not as fake as today.

i was at work with my dad all day, i think it was a saturday and when we got home, my mom said elvis died. we thought she was joking. it was something so absolutely stunning, no one could believe it. everyone thought he had everything in life, wealth, health and the gurls. he was depressed and bloated taking multiple pills. i guess fame brings demons. look at gates, zuckerberg, michael jackson, madonna, et al. they all have/had demons attached to them that make them have to keep making more money, more fame to try to offset it

fake
5-12”?
and 18 years for beer likely was universal today in 78
doubt 21 anywhere
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74972392

78 was great. Yes it was 21 in some places, I didn't apply for any colleges in Pennsylvania because of it (I turned 18 in high school and wasn't gonna give up my right to sit in a bar). I was going to college in NYC, seeing concerts every weekend ($7 bucks for Madison Square Garden and cheaper in the Village for the clubs like Other End and Bottom Line), smoking tons of weed (we called ourselves The Bong Squad), and choosing between girlfriends! If I could do anything different I would have kept my hometown girl and screwed around at college, instead I thought i was noble for letting her go. I was a romantic! Long hair, skinny as a twig. College only cost $4000 a year, my dad paid 1k, I gave him 1K after working all summer, and floated a 2k loan, which I repaid in a few years.
