...

I'm closer to Hammond/Ponchatoula area
 Quoting: MKPitBull

I’m on Northshore. Ran by Walmart on way home to top off only to find NO TOILET PAPER! Luckily I had been stocking.... was only a few busted packs.

Little to no Clorox wipes or cleaner... even generic

Water was very low except for Dansani. Gallon jugs picked over as well.

No rubbing alcohol. Grabbed some bottles of the sippin kind and went to Big Lots
 Quoting: LeaLea1

BR here, Walmart near me looks like a Cat 5 is in the gulf. People are pretty much buying cold medicine, toliet paper and hurricane preps. Regular food is all good, except canned veggies and knorr rice packages-- there are none to be had! Cleaning supplies and bleach have been sold out for about a week everywhere.
 Quoting: girlie45

That's crazy because I'm just outside of BR and my Walmart has been out of masks for weeks. I bought some of that new MicroBan cleaner just last week. They still had plenty of Clorox wipes. Go to some of the outlying Walmarts or Dollar Generals if you still need stuff. I'd be willing to bet Baker is still full on cleaning supplies.

But yeah, for the most part I just got what I do for a hurricane. Maybe a little more cleaners. Otherwise, we all know the drill.

I've got a feeling that this mess isnt real but that wont stop our govenor from locking us down. So I've prepped anyway. Best of luck to you and yours!! We may have horrible health care but we have the best people!
[/quote/

I will probably go to walmart at Cortana for cleaning supplies, I am sure they will still have some..

Best of luck to you too! Yes, our people are great, too bad we can't cook gumbo in the street to feed the hood if this goes down. The Cajun in me wants to do this. Oh well.

This seems quite scripted to me. Not that I think there's nothing out there to fear. Just not the virus.

What are we being distracted from noticing?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78531457

The utter and complete collapse of the worlds economy.

Period. The end.

Is that big enough for you or is there something else you need?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 66721050

That will do. What do THEY plan to do after collapsing it?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78531457

Well for starters, they can modify my mortgage to 2 percent, and lower my interest on my credit cards. LOL.

St. Tammany here...getting close to home
 Quoting: Head2Bunker

St Tammany as well...a bit too close
 Quoting: LeaLea1

St Tammany also and WAY too close to home for our comfort. Any idea what hospital the latest patient is at? WWL just says “North Shore hospital”.
 Quoting: GeauxTigahs

I just heard as well. I’m going to ask my friend who is a nurse and see what she’s heard. She works at a Nursing Home and last week they were trying to prepare.

Got to work this morning and started cleaning desks and door knobs. Probably useless at this point. My 15 yr old is going to loose her shit when she hears this. She would go to school in a Hazmat suit at this point if she could.
 Quoting: LeaLea1

I clean homes for a living. I need a hazmat suit.

Email from our kids school in Nola

We have received notice of an unconfirmed but possible community exposure to the coronavirus not due to international travel. Out of an abundance of caution, and for the safety of our students, families, and staff, tomorrow and Friday (3/12 and 3/13) our school will be closed. We will communicate more details as soon as available.

Lots of neighbors in this thread! St. Tammany here. The Walmart is picked over but Dollar General and Big Lots looks good.

Now that we have at least one case here, this weekend is gonna be worse than Black Friday in the stores.

Gov. Edwards confirms first Louisiana coronavirus case in Jefferson Parish

BATON ROUGE, La. (KLFY) — Gov. John Bel Edwards is reporting Louisiana’s first presumptive positive case of COVID-19, commonly referred to as coronavirus. A Jefferson Parish resident has been hospitalized in Orleans Parish, and as of press time, this was the only known case of the illness in Louisiana.

A presumptive positive means the test still needs to be confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. However, Edwards said the reliability of the test will mean Louisiana will move forward as if it is an actual positive.

We had a conference call about the situation this morning. I was told to start ordering all the stuff I had been picking up at home...LoL. Thankfully I had ordered a little extra yesterday. Today there was nothing available to order. Backstocked until April or later. We went all over trying to find stuff for office...it was unreal. Food is now getting hit hard...lots of holes and empty sections. Glad I don’t have to worry about that so much now. My problem is I keep thinking...just get a little more.

BTW, did you see they cancelled the Strawberry Fest, or rather postponed it?

Re: Louisiana in the mix now
I just got home from Rouse's in Metairie. It was a madhouse, no water, no bread, and the cleaning supplies were all picked through, but my favorite Mint Oil was still there.

Great people watching, though. I saw one woman in line to check out, she was staring at her cart full of stuff and talking out loud. She said she didn't even eat the stuff she had picked up, and what was she thinking, and then she pulled half her stuff out and put it on the nearest display stand.

The cashier said that two workers had just quit.

All of the Emergen-C was gone.

All of the name brand toilet paper was gone, but the generic stuff was left sitting on the shelf all by itself.

No one was buying produce, no one was in the dairy aisle, and no one was in the liquor section.

This morning Dorignac's only had 2 cashiers working. The produce department was wrecked. I noticed something though, both Dorignac's and Rouse's had NO onions at all. Very odd.

One of the employees at Dorignac's told me there were three trucks waiting to be unloaded, but they were waiting for staff to show up.
