That could be confusing. By "Upper class" I meant older kids like *8th Grade- 12th grade* Not students with more money.

We are almost at 1000 that happened fast.. real fast..once at a thousand and tests FINALLY being made available it will STRIKE WITH a vengence

IMO, everything will be shut down in 2-3 weeks when we're looking like Italy is looking today, or worse. Could be wrong, but probably not since this is how it has played out in China, SK, Italy, etc.

This Friday will be the last day of school for awhile.

As far as kids starving, how do they eat during the summer?
How do parents go to work during the summer?

And they can't shut down public schools so hastily. These are babysitting facilities. Do you know how many single mothers are in nursing alone? They would have to stay home with the bastard children and no one would be there to take care of all the incoming sick.

I do not think that most of those kids really eat during the summer. My school has a summer meal program tho

On a side note, spring break will be an infection vector....think about it....young people traveling to different states engaging in risky activity in large crowds....THEN they go home.....

Lots of people at work are on vacay because the kids are break, Cabo, Cancun, yadda yadda. Morans to a man.

there have been no CoronaVirus illnesses in Schools but 'local authorities' want to shut the schools down anyway so they can be disinfected during Spring break.

I don’t know but I do know this. It’s better to shut them all down even if this pushes back their education level an entire year than them dying and pushing it back for eternity.

I teach special needs fourth graders in San Bernardino County, CA. My district just sent out a notice saying all field trips and teacher training trips outside the county are cancelled for the next month. They are basing this on the fact that there are no cases of coronavirus in the county right now.

To me, this is just a feel good measure to look like they are being proactive, because they haven't canceled any travel for athletic events...they know that would piss off too many people. If it were this huge threat, wouldn't they cancel athletic trips too? Why cancel one and not the other.

They also have provided each glass with a bottle of hand sanitizer, but we aren't allowed to use disinfectant wipes in our classrooms because in California you need special insecticide training to use disinfectant wipes.

The other thing that really pisses me off about it all is that they aren't encouraging sick kids to stay home. I had a kid throwing up the other day and they couldn't get ahold of his mother, so they sent him back to class instead of making him wait in the office until they reached her. Then they let him come back to school the next day, even though we knew it hadn't been 24 hours since he had last thrown up. If a kid misses more than a week of school, they get SARBED...which results in a fine between $300 and $1000 for the parents. IF they really worried about this virus spreading, they would cancel SARBs for the rest of the year. For schools in Cali, attendance is all about the $ and there is no way they will cancel classes.

Absolutely! I have no doubt. They are playing it out as long as possible. They have to extend the economy just a little longer. They are getting everything ready and protected before they start doing large shut downs.
NY is obviously a test run to see how citizens will react. I would bet by next Monday we start seeing some serious moves on their part. I hope they do to protect our citizens. After all those older folks hold 68% of our nations wealth along with 72% of our businesses.

My daughter is a grade school teacher. She was saying tonight how hard it is to keep kids from spreading germs that they are constantly putting hands in mouth and walking can't help but run their hand down the wall as their walking down the hall. Kids are naturally touchers. It will spread like wildfire if this is for real.
