Nine years ago today, a powerful earthquake & tsunami killed 18,000 people & triggered a nuclear meltdown at Fukushima. Japan is now in the midst of a new crisis, on what was supposed to be a banner year. Quoting: Builder of the Adytum [link to twitter.com (secure)] I was living in South Korea at the time, which is only a few hundred miles and sometimes downwind from Japan. Now both countries are dealing with this new crisis. Those bitches and their Hondas will pay for this. |

The meltdown had me pretty freaked out. When the wind would change and blow our way, sometimes schools had to be closed. I was a teacher in South Korea for five years. I was taping plastic over my windows and eating seaweed soup and drinking red wine like a madman. My wife probably thought I had become unhinged. Went through the novel flu ("Shinjong Flu") over there, too -- me and my infant daughter at the time. Very scary. |

Well, the people in Japan and especially Fukushima and the surrounding area had it much worse than I. |
