While I agree it is needed, your options do not fit the real picture.

Gov Inslee, to his credit, has directed there be PAID leave for anyone who has to miss a paycheck due to the virus. Anyone do affected should talk with their employer or just reach out to the governors office. It’s a great development!!!!

Damnit I would’ve killed for this to happen when I was in school.

The place I work at had HR walk around and tell the workers if the kids have to be home, you can stay home and take care of your kids without worry about losing your job.

That comes with the territory. If you're in the healthcare field, if they don't like it, should've picked a different field, just like cops.

Is it a good idea for the government to be making such demands of private businesses?

I work in the advertising agency industry. The business takes in money based on billable hours. If employees are not working on billable hours, there is no income to the business. How is this going to work?

Don't get me wrong -- something needs to be done if the government is essentially forcing people to miss work to care for their kids, but I'm not sure this is the answer.
