The remaining tourists may want to get their n a plane home ASAP or they’ll be stuck in their hotel room for the duration.

whoa
that's a shock to hear.
Fours Seasons Wailea has looked close to capacity all week. Island is busy, but have talked with a couple concerned tourists.

Meanwhile not ONE case of covid on Maui that I know of.
Time to cultivate that garden.

Yeah it's a ghost town in makawao as I drove to Paia to get some clove oil at Mana. Paia was shuttered. Most employees at Mana all had masks on.

Stay strong and cultivate what you can.
Maui will be just fine.

Just drove through Waikiki. Weird, almost already a ghost town there.

Also, I have noticed very frequent flights of military helicopters flying over the Ko'olau mountains. All kinds, including large chinooks.

Just saw this on Facebook

OAHU UPDATE

A second death likely related to the CV has occurred as well. Another source said her family member is intubated. They said to please share this information since they continue to see people partying and not taking this seriously.

"This past weekend, we intubated 5.

2 of those will likely die within the next 24-48 hours (they are prone in ICU, intubated on high PEEP and FiO2.)

Neither are over the age of 60.

We had 6 PUI when I left a 13 hour shift today (these are becoming more normal,5+/week).

We are projected to need 84 ICU beds in my facility alone at peak. We have 24.

We don’t have 84 vents (or the staff to man them, if we did).

We are reusing masks.

We are running out of cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer.

We are wondering how we’re going to stay safe when our PPE is gone.

It’s real.

It’s here.

Stay home and social distance!!!!

I don’t write this to incite panic or fear. I wrote this to implore everyone to be mindful of everyone else.

In the name of Public Health, for the safety of the public, the localities should post the names of victims so if you see someone from your area who died who you may have had contact with, you can contact your doctor to see what the next step you should take; self quarantine, etc.

I'm tired of simply seeing numbers. In the name of Public Safety, the deceased people's names and areas they lived should be posted to help fight this disease.

Re: Coronavirus In Hawaii, news and coconut wireless updates: Governor Extends 14-Day Travel Quarantine and Stay-at-Home Order to May 31st
This is from a vacation rental owner in Hanalei.

Aloha Kaua’i community.

We are all globally and locally devastated about this coronavirus pandemic. We are so very sad about this and want you to know we are very sorry that this has happened in our community. We had a guest that booked our vacation rental home in hanalei and departed over a week ago. She informed us a few days after she left that someone in her group had tested positive for the COVID-19. We immediately contacted the Department of Health and informed them of the situation. The department of health told us they were already in contact with the infected and they were diligently reaching out to everyone who they came in contact with. We are still trying to get some of the facts and information from this whole situation as the woman who booked the home is our only contact and will not release any information about the infected person or their condition.
The woman texted us that “the hospital released him, told him no worries, it’s almost certainly RSV. The last thing they said to him as he left was to fly safe. They cleared our whole group to proceed with travel.”
She has stopped communicating with us and has advised us to direct any and all further questions to the DOH. The department of health is not releasing much of any information to us as they say it is highly confidential.
We are extremely frustrated about this entire situation and have extensively shared this frustration and anger toward the guests as they were very irresponsible and inconsiderate to not have let us know prior that they were feeling sick. They failed to even do the right thing by telling us they went to get a test while they were on island.
We care about our community and feel terrible about all of this, however we have been advised by the DOH to allow them to do their job, as they are smarter and more skilled in doing what is right in this situation.
Again, we are very sorry and feel horrible. We would love to personally speak to any one who has any questions as we have nothing to hide. You can also call the Department of Health at 808.586.4586 whom we have spoke with many times. You can also call Lisa with the DOH who is the person we have directly spoken with in length, her number is 808.241.3563.
We want the very best for everyone and would never have any intention of hurting anyone or hiding anything from anyone in our community.
“If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.”
