Anonymous Coward User ID: 78289597 United States 03/13/2020 08:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A school district in Il closed for a day to clean as there was a spectator at a basketball game tested positive. My kids school districts have cancelled field trips, practices, sports events. No more visitors, no meetings. Until further notice. Emails also state that if a student within the district does test positive they will close for 24 hours. |

Mayor's answer to questions is we don't want to overreact. Seems closing colleges, canceling conventions, outlawing gatherings of over 250 people isn't overreacting but closing k-12 schools is. Also too much testing is an overreaction according to the mayor. Wife is an elementary teacher, working but still recovering from pneumonia after a week of antibiotics. I'm trying to get her to take a week of sick leave if they don't decide to close schools because I don't think she should risk cornavirus while her lungs are still healing. |

San Diego unified announced closing, not the district my wife is teaching in but hopefully other districts follow suit |

Here's What You Need To Know The Los Angeles Unified School District has announced plans to cancel in-person instruction starting Monday as the coronavirus spreads worldwide. For the next two weeks, all 472,000 students will continue their coursework online. In an email to LAUSD staff, Superintendent Austin Beutner said the two-week closure will give district leaders a chance to "evaluate the appropriate path forward."
