Trump administration to partner with private sector to set up drive-through testing sites for coronavirus


Officials were scheduled to discuss widening the availability of drive-through testing sites, involving private companies as well as state and local health departments, in a meeting at the White House on Friday, according to three individuals familiar with the effort.

Democratic and Republican lawmakers repeatedly have pressed administration health officials on why the United States has not set up a model similar to that in South Korea — a country with a huge covid-19 outbreak — in which drive-through testing sites do not require a doctor’s prescription and results are available rapidly.
