Just braved Black Friday the 13th in San Diego
Out here in East County San Diego, things were brisk at all the stores. The discount stores and the grocery store and the Walmart were all running out basic food items, frozen food, all paper products like napkins and wipes and paper towels and toilet paper are nowhere to be seen. They were restocking the water as quickly as they could at the Walmart. No idea what the weekend shoppers will be facing. A lot of people were discussing what's going on and there seem to be a general atmosphere of uncertainty, but also a camaraderie that we're all in this together, for now. Not sure how long that will last.

It's definitely going to be interesting if we get locked down and have only our neighbors to relate to for a while. Some might enjoy that more than others.

I realized weeks ago that this need to prepare was going to be an issue, and put a sign up at my apartment to warn people to get their essential stocked up. I thought someone would take it down pretty quickly, but they left it up for a while. I wanted to make sure my neighbors started preparing, because they all have pets and kids, and I certainly didn't want them to come knocking on my door just because they hadn't prepared themselves for things that they weren't even aware of yet. It's a small complex and everyone is pretty much on top of each other.

Going to be very interesting to see how the flow of consumerism goes from here on out...

Hola neighbor! Here in PB and things are crazy! Been to the Vons twice in last 24 hours people are in a haze! Went to business costco in Kearny Mesa and the line went from the registers all the way to the back of the store....we left...we've already stocked up weeks ago.\

Howdy, PB neighbor banana2,

I was just thinking about heading out that way today. I really wanted to see the ocean again before we get locked down, but the weather really wasn't worth it.

I'm just out there getting the random things that you either run out of frequently or you didn't even think to get in the first place.

I used to work in PB at a place called The River Clothing Outlet, office management and accounting. It's long gone now.

I agree, people are just wandering around looking confused and wondering what they should buy, trying to figure out what to get of what's left. I think when you see those shelves emptying out so quickly you're kind of like okay, I got to do this now and make it matter.

I'm from the generation of people that made casseroles and homemade food, but this generation is so used to pre-made food and fast-food and food delivery, I don't think they really know how to use basic Staples to make really tasty stuff. It's sad that more young people don't take cooking classes and they don't really offer it in junior high, like they did when I was a kid. Before proposition 13, we were taking classes in junior high like metal shop, wood shop, sewing, cooking, it was a lot of fun. I sewed my own fancy dress for graduation from Junior High. My sister wore it four years later. Can't even imagine anyone doing that nowadays. I guess people are in too much of a hurry to waste their time in the kitchen, because it really is time-consuming, but they'll have a lot of that on their hands soon.

Yo neighbors, Poway here. As of this morning our Walmart was super picked over already but Stater Bro's had plenty of everything except toilet paper.

THINK ABOUT THIS!

The universe created life to be observed, without an observer, it never existed. So it is a mathematical proof that the universe created life.

There's not going to be any lock down! The constitution hasn't been suspended and everyone will still be free to go wherever except where people are vulnerable like hospitals and nursing homes. The idea is use your common sense. Stay home if not feeling well, otherwise avoid crowds and wash your hands!
In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined:

With disdain I will throw my gauntlet full in the face of the world,
And see the collapse of this pygmy giant whose fall will not stifle my ardor.
Then will I wander godlike and victorious through the ruins of the world
And, giving my words an active force, I will feel equal to the Creator.

“Looking for consciousness in the brain is like looking in the radio for the announcer.”

– Nasseim Haramein, Director of Research for the Resonance Project

Normalize every aberrant behavior, bring common all deviancy and let fly the reins of morality and reason, then welcome in that utopia that liberals embrace called communism, that which most Americans with but a shard of ethic would immediately recognize as evil.
