My local grocery store was completely out of chicken | |

Wouldn't hurt to grab another case of beer I suppose. Quoting: Irredeemable Toilet paper isle has been bare for 3 days now, no cleaner, bleach, no laundry detergent, pasta isle is mostly bare. No cans of tuna, sardines are all gone. But what was the strangest thing to see, was the cooler where the chicken usually was, was completely empty. 2 packs of chicken gizzards, and 3 containers of chicken livers. It's a bit early to go catfishing so that's why those are left. Even the bread isle was looking empty. I didn't really look around much more than that. I just wanted in and out, because it was a madhouse. Went to the farm store yesterday to stock up on chicken feed and they were packed. People buying shit like crazy, water, TP, all of which they had plenty of stocks of, but their feed section was getting low. Maybe people are stocking up on horse and hog feed. Not sure, but I've never see anything like this. I'm starting to get a bit concerned. Wife got up early this morning to go pick up a few things at our Neighborhood Walmart grocery store and she said it is unbelievable. No eggs, no bread, no tp(of course)NO MEATS, she said of the few things on her list they were OUT of every one of them! She said they were super busy re-stocking though so obviously this was a panic run after all the Friday news. Ask Alice when she's 10ft tall This is a battle for the future of civilization. It's still mostly locally produced and delivered daily. I guess since the canned goods were mostly sold out, people started going for the meat. I bought the last pack of bacon too. Wanted chicken, none was to be had. It was a Kroger and there was a “Buy One Get One Free” promotion at our store. So...how could they NOT be out of chicken? Good luck! The prime example is the ridiculous run on TP. Of all the thing to stockpile to try to save your life in a crunch they choose TP? Just so stupid.... Anonymous Coward User ID: 78571203 United States 03/15/2020 09:34 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I went on a mission to locate a chicken yesterday. I thought it would be fun. I put 120 miles on my odometer and spent 4 hours to find one chicken. The store had just put out a bunch, but I only took one, that was my goal. I have plenty of chicken at home, was just sort of interested in the difficulty involved with such a thing at the moment. |

The bread isle was EMPTY except for corn and flour tortillas which i grabbed. Tuna isle, bleach, handsoap, wipes, and tp all gone. I grabbed alot of canned fruits and veggies, beans, pasta, tomato sauce, salt, diapers and papertowels, and a few other things. I still don't think i spent enough. There was still milks and cheese and produce, bur its definitely being bought out fast. There were no meats either like you said. Im not scared of the virus. Im scared of everything shutting down. Trying to prep for my family while i still can. |

Tesco User ID: 78543306 United Kingdom 03/15/2020 09:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Better not to panic buy, if things do not come back on line, you will be ahead of the curve going back to Nature first. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72415808 No going back to nature if you live in a city like most people do. Staying ahead of the curve is getting long lasting food from the shops whilst you still can but i can tell you all that Tesco was out of chicken and only beef on sale was expensive cuts at £12 per KG or more. No beans, pasta and only a little rice left late last night near me. |

(OP) Living in a dream User ID: 49714172 United States 03/15/2020 10:45 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok, so I just got back from the store, and yes, they had chicken back again today. But it won't be there for long. People buying it like crazy. Pork was getting low, and the beef, while still plenty left, was also much lower than yesterday and didn't look real great. Frozen chicken is all but gone, still not TP, and only the cheap generic paper towels in single roll packs. They did have a few cans of tuna today, which I did buy because I eat it in my lunch 2 or 3 days a week, and had to buy chicken of the sea instead of bumblebee like I like. Also the pasta section looked like they had put some more stock out, spaghetti mostly, but there still was a lot of empty space on the shelves. Laundry detergent is looking a bit better, but only the expensive 30 dollar big jugs. All the cheap stuff in the smaller jugs is all gone. No clorox at all, and all the wipes and other disinfectants are gone. Lots of coffee though. I have plenty of that to last for quite awhile, but just wait til people realize they can't get their morning coffee from Starbucks when they close. That will be the next run. Store was busy, especially for a Sunday morning during church hours. It will be picked clean here in a couple hours again after church lets out, even though I think a couple churches cancelled services today. Most did not though. There is still not any cases in my county, but there were a couple over in Allegheny county, in Shittsbugh. Bit too close for my liking. We are eternal... All this pain is an illusion |

And I never thought this would happen like this here, because the people in this area are usually stocked for at least a month or two, because it's not that unusual to not have power for a few days or a week or more in winter storms or even summer storms. People around here are fairly self-sufficient. I'm wondering if there are out of town people coming from larger cities surrounding us and buying this stuff? I haven't been to any stores or even heard what they are like in the larger cities around here, but I'm betting it's not good. If my little store looks like this, then the wal-marts and larger population center stores have to be cleaned out. We are eternal... All this pain is an illusion |
