NEWT GINGRICH: I AM IN ITALY AMID THE CORONAVIRUS CRISIS. AMERICA MUST ACT NOW—AND ACT BIG | |

User ID: 990180 Austria 04/05/2020 01:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The receivers of the new virus (Italy? etc.) found out about the retaliation act but they didn't know by then how dangerous the new virus would be for them. They wanted to be on the safe side and so the WHO(?) gave out a warning (behind closed doors) to all nations to hurry up with countermeasures just in case the virus would cause massive deaths. This is the reason why maybe so many people have actually that weird feeling that the reaction of their governments is overdrawn. Just a theory of mine.... |

He is feeling traumatized trapped in Italy and sensing his own mortality. 98% of corona virus victims fully recover. 100% of everyone else have nothing to recover from except recovering their livelihoods and the economic destruction that has resulted. Hang in there Newt. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 2492899 United States 04/05/2020 02:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic poses two threats: public health and economic. Quoting: SurrealMax I am living in Italy, where my wife, Callista, is the ambassador to the Holy See. I have watched first-hand as the Italian government has worked hard to contain the coronavirus by imposing strong public health measures to try to get the epidemic under control. These measures will lead to significant economic challenges. As I write: All schools are closed in all of Italy. All churches are closed (including St. Peter's Basilica). All weddings and funerals are postponed. All restaurants are closed. In fact, all stores except grocery stores and pharmacies are closed. People are urged to work from home unless they work in special designated factories [link to www.newsweek.com (secure)] Sweden is doing the EXACT OPPOSITE -- Everything is open in Sweden. Why is Sweden's infection/death rate much lower than Italy's? Something aint adding up! Houston we have a problem. Sweden is actually behind the curve, but will get to Italy if they don't act. They are already beginning to doubt their method as they are surging past their neighbor Norway in cases and deaths. Norway shut down and now Sweden, who stayed open, is starting to see widespread infection. It's only a matter of weeks until Sweden also has a big problem. So I anticipate that within the next 2 weeks, we will see a reversal of Sweden's position and also begin shutting things down. |

I just wanted to point out that some people can end up in a shelter because of other people's bad choices for them. Quoting: 75598709 As an aside, I have always found it bizarre how people (general society) will blame the victim if they stay with an abuser but will condemn us for a wide berth when our abusers share DNA. I finally ended the charade about 2.5 years ago after ending up in the hospital from three relatives attacking me. That is when I moved to a shelter until I could find a solution that didn't involve me being a verbal/physical punching bag. I survived. It hasn't been easy. But, it hasn't been the worse ever either. For the first time in my life, I am unreachable (to them) and I'm the safest I've ever been. Peace to you!
