Re: EAST TEXAS: State of emergency declaration
I am in Brazoria County, TX.

Just returned from feed store where I bought more hay, dog food, cat food, and some animal meds.

I did not want to be in the situation where I would have to put some of my dogs down because they are starving. Ditto my tom cats.

Hint for last minute preps: I don't care if you live in a city. If you have even a patio, you can buy a small cage with a few chickens or rabbits. Chickens eat almost anything and produce eggs.

In a pinch you can grind the millet in the scratch grain chicken feed and make flour for flat breads.

You can also plant millet if you have even a small lawn. Millet is a very hardy grain that grows in poor soil and is drought-tolerant.

Oh yeah, and screw the city regs and HOAs.

Same here. I have a lot of doggie and kitty food, but we bought 2 duckies, and 8 baby pullets this weekend, along with 2 straight run Bantams. I went and got big chickie scratch in case we are in lockdown when they are too old for the starter.

Awesome idea about the millet.

HOA be damned.

Too many unnecessary trips to my in-laws' house to roll the trash can down to the basement while they were out of town, I guess. Those HOA bitches have been a pain in my ass for 15 years.

My neighborhood is actually supposed to get one as soon as they can get the rest of the houses built, and I am going to run for its president on the keep-on-keepin'-on platform, although that guy with the short bus parked in his front yard is gonna have to do something about that.
