Local jail's inmate count is being slashed
I find this interesting, but I'm not sure what to make of it:

I try to stay on top of who all's getting booked into the local jail. I rarely even recognize the names, but I have my reasons. And with Jailtracker, it's fun and easy. Well, over the weekend, the jail's population went from about 210 to 155. Over the weekend, mind you. A 25% population drop is unheard of. And happening on the weekend?

In addition: in the past few weeks, there have been a number of people arrested and booked, but the booking details indicate that rather than having to post a bond, the inmate was released on a "promise to appear" in court. This is something new, at least in the local system. Is it merely a policy change, or does it have something to do with the deadly coronavirus? I'll never know, because they're certainly not going to give me an honest answer, even if I were to ask.

they won't have the manpower for "petty" crimes,
they're anticipating resignations and deaths.

your lucky day!
