Pastor Threatened With National Guard For Holding Church Services

Mine is larger. Not a mega church but at least 1,000 each week with 2 services. Closed thru March 31.
We do have streaming and the pastor and several choir members will be in.
It’s sad and like being in a Twilight Zone episode.
I just feel numb.

This is not about "fear" it's about being arrogant and full of pride at a time when they should be examples and pillars of the community.

As some have already posted, the Bible is clear about being separate during times of disease.

Now they are going to waste resources by acting stupid.

First off, it is now up to 37-45 days before some have shown infection, WHILE under quaranine.

Secondly, were they all locked up for 45 days YOU would be whining that they are not allowed OUT of said church.

They should be allowed to gather, but only on the condition that they are all locked inside the church for 30 days after the service to ensure the public safety.

why did he not do an online service

We have maybe around 15 people on a normal Sunday. Closer to the holidays, we might have 30. I think we had close to 50 a couple of Christmases ago.We have had as little as 5-8 people on bad weather days.

under the Constitution, you have the right to peacefully assemble.... They can suggest not meeting in large groups, but can't enforce that. so I gues the Constitution has been thrown out the window?

When disease hits, it is usually People of Faith that go to help first. They are not responsible for the follies of government or other entities that caused these diseases.

That is exactly what has happened.

So if a tornado, fire, flood, hurricane, mass shooter etc. was heading towards the Church and the police said not to go inside the building, you would all congregate anyhow to 'stand up for what you believe in'?

What if there was a bomb about to go off? Just stay inside anyhow? Show that bomb who's boss?

This Pandemic is no different than the examples above. It's a matter of Public Safety. It's not about Politics or Human Rights vs. Constitution or unjust laws being passed.

How can you even compare this to "Christians in the Coliseum" or "Revolutionary War".

Those are completely different issues.
